Before You Buy Slick Magnetos by
jls
Check out their warranty. It's short and not worth anything for long, or
to a successor owner.
And if you need help from them at Unison by phone, skip it. They're not
interested. And besides you'll be punching buttons on the phone trying to
get to a warm-blooded human being until you're...

Lousy service from Century Flight Systems and FedEx by
Michelle P
Hi all,
Little rant and warning.
After talking to the Factory Rep at Sun-N-Fun I recently sent my NSD
360A HSI back to Century Flight Systems in Mineral Wells Texas for
service. The compass card would spin for no reason then be fine for a while.
I called and talked to the support folks and they...

C172 Air vents by
Matt Young
Our club owns a 1978 172. The little tabs that hold the pilots side air
vent in the tube have come out and been lost, so when you get up to
speed, it just pops out (makes the right seat nice adn cool this time of
year, but will be a problem in winter). Any ideas on easy fixes or
finding the...

Need VHF radios for Africa by
HECTOP
Folks,
I am posting this on behalf of my friend, a chief pilot of an airline
working for JMC ( http://www.jmc.nu ) peacekeeping force in Sudan.
They operate a gamut of russian aircraft and require US-made VHF radios,
antennas and intercoms for them. Since Sudan is on the US Dept. of State
list of...

Any one have any sales advice on piston twins v.s turbo prop twins. I'm
currently in the process of aquiring a charter buisness that operates 2

21st Century Grumman Tiger in South Florida by
Marty from Sunny Florida
Hi all,
Just thought I'd share a marvelous experience. Over the years I've been in
and out of several old single engine cessnas, (c150 and 172's).
This morning, (June 29, 2004), I was invited to try out a 2003 Tiger; an

Liberty XL2 anyone? by
TTA Cherokee Driver
When I first heard about this plane I thought it would be cool idea -- a
new, two-person touring plane that will cost about $150K with good
avionics. But the more I learn about it, strictly from reading magazine
articles, the more I wonder. For example:
1. Fingertip brakes next to the throttle....

landing gear cleaning by
Bob Miller
What does everyone use for cleaning dirt/grease up on landing gear?
We're not satisfied with soap/water due to the fact the
brush/scrubber/sponge can't get to all the nooks and crannies. A
hangar neighbor suggested brake cleaning fluid.
Thanks

Belly Cleaning...? by
zatatime
Hi,
I'm looking for ideas on how to best clean the belly of my plane.
It's a Cherokee and is pretty greasy/grimy/dirty underneath. I'm
hoping to find something I can buy from a non-aviation source (like a
supermarket or auto parts store), and it would be Great if I didn't
need any water.
TIA for...

Calling from a cell phone when airborne by
Elwood Dowd
Thanks for the note. I spent about $100 for a dingus that connects the
cell to an intercom, it sounds like this works just as well for about
$75 less!
(Legal wrangling aside, of course... I'm sure you only call using 1.9GHz
frequencies anyway)

Complex / High Performance / Low Performance by
R.T.
Good day all,

discussion seems to come up about Complex and High Performance aircraft.
My question is this? Is a 172 RG classified as a Complex aircraft? and a 182
fixed gear classified as a non-complex High...

figures for both models of 3800 lbs, compared to 3500 lbs which is standard.
Does anybody know under what conditions you can load it up to the...

Indicator for Narco 12D by

I'm considering adding a GPS/comm and as a result need a new indicator for
what will be the #2 nav, a Narco 12D. Which Narco indicator is usually used
with the 12D? Does anyone have a Narco 12D nav/com driving a King
indicator? From looking at wiring diagrams, the KI-204 or KI-209 look like

British Aviators Alcock & Brown by

CAN YOU HELP?
OBJECT OF ENQUIRY:
I'm seeking proof that either/both the transatlantic pioneers Sir John

near Weybridge, Surrey at or around the time of their flight in June 1919.
If proof can be found, there is a strong...
