737 vs glider by Ramy[_2_]
Anyone have more details about it? In particular, was the glider equipped with transponder? This is not good rep for us, but could have been worse....

Does the 750 km and 1000 km have to be an FAI triangle. Are polygons OK for 1000 KM Badges and Diplomas for flights of 750 km and more. These are a family of badges that are achieved on completing a distance flight of 750 kilometres or more, in increments of 250 kilometres (ie. 750 km, 1000 km,...

750 mile flights in Tennessee by Chilhowee
Saturday, April 7th turned out to be a day to remember for soaring pilots in Tennessee. For several months now, Chilhowee Gliderport has conducted satellite operations on good ridge days from the Marion County airport of Sequatchie Valley. On April 7th four pilots took tows, and the results are as...

750K ... One Turn by Papa3[_2_]
Not a bad day on the New Jersey and Pennsylvania ridges today. A rare SE day without cloud or rain issues. Bill Thar flew his Duck Hawk for an "easy" 750K with only one turn in 5.5 hours. Not too shabby! http://www.onlinecontest.org/olc-2.0/gliding/flightinfo.html?dsId=2771979

79% More lenient landout scoring per 2006 US rules poll by chris
If you can get 79% of race pilots to agree to anything that is amazing - surely this can be considered a mandate for a rule change/serious study. No other poll item was as clearly delineated as this. 6.2 Landouts - Carefully read John Good's evaluation of treatment for landouts under IGC scoring....

8 hours so far into trying to get washer into pitot tube... by Bruno[_2_]
Long story short, I decided to go for broke and change out the two front rubber washers/ O rings in my pitot tube in the tail of my ASW-20B. Years of dry pitot tubes going in and out had taken their toll on the washers and they were starting to leak. Reminder to all - lightly grease your pitot...

90 Degree turn while slipping by ISoar
I can't find anything in my books about how to make a 90 degree turn (e.g., downwind to base) while in a full slip, but maybe that's because it's so obvious. (Given my limited # hours, just because something seems obvious to me doesn't mean I'm not going to check it out.) I figure I'll turn with...
