In order to support the SSA's new marketing campaign (http:// www.letsgogliding.com/) I urge all of you to help out by turning your glider trailer into a moving billboard for our sport with the trailer graphics used at the SSA convention. The SSA is offering the graphics for $105.00 per set +...

Let's Go Gliding Trailer Logo by [email protected]
A few of us put the new SSA Let's Go Gliding logo on the sides or our trailers on a rain day at Perry. While driving home we noticed a number of camera flashes as folks photographed the 10 foot logo on our trailer. Let's hope some or these folks go to the web site and give it a try. Cost is a very...

Let's keep BLIPMap alive by Martin Hellman
Those of you who have come to depend on BLIPMap will probably be interested in knowing that Jack is now accepting contributions to help keep the web site going. Up to now, it's been a free service and Jack has put in not only thousands of hours, but also whatever costs have been involved. He really...

Let's talk ground launching........ by Rusty
Hello All: With the price of fuel going up and the price of AeroTows close behind it I think the need to follow the lead of our brethren in the UK is close at hand. I have heard talk of the infamous $100.00 tow and know that I for one can't afford it, I have to work for a living as do most of you!...

Lets gripe about the SSA RC and their decisions so we don't FUBARother worthwhile threads.... by Charlie M. (UH & 002 owner/pilot)
So, have at it. Dump your gripes here, link other threads as you see fit. Lets NOT derail other threads with the, "Same ole crap" so you can see yourself complain. You will NOT get an academy award for your complaints..... maybe even someone will read & comment. If you're outside the US, don't...

Letter to editor in SOARING Mag by R Walters
Roger Bard has a letter to the editor in this month's SOARING mag. His point is "Why even bother" to fly the OLC contest and he lists four reasons why.. Answering his "reasons why not" is the following: 1&2. A Nimbus 4 is not required since results are handicapped. Ron Schwartz flew his 1-26 to...

Letter to the FAA by Walt Connelly
Before I send my letter to the FAA I'd like to ask if anyone has ever attempted to get them to see the light and end the use of Schweizer hooks on tow planes here in the land of the free and the home of the brave. It is a well known fact and clearly stated in the SSA/SSF and FAA circulars and...

Letters Asking to Buy My Glider by ContestID67
I have received several letters over the last year from people interested in purchasing my glider. I was wondering if this is common or rare? I'd like to think it rare and that I own a highly desireable and marketable glider. I also wonder if it is some type of scam. The letter's content...

Levelling a grass runway by Jim White[_3_]
Does anyone here have any experience improving a grass runway. In particular levelling it without actually removing the grass, leveliing the soil, and resowing / returfing. I wonder if a routine of rigorous slicing aerating followed by sand / grit dressing, and rolling would do the job? Jim

LFILORIGIN sentence in IGC file? by [email protected]
A user of my new IGC logger Excel spreadsheet sent me a pair of IGC files that were clearly duplicates *except* that the first few B records of one file contained clearly bogus GPS locations (displaced a few thousand miles due east!). Naturally, this caused the dupe detection routine (which...

LFO's (lightweight flying objects) by bumper
Or what to do when the weather says, "no soaring". For those who don't get out enough (no rude comments directed towards me, please), you may not have heard of the following aviation related items (no financial or other connections with this, but they sure is fun!): "Air Hogs Havoc"...

Liability insurance by Ian Cant
