The best new thing I saw at OSH... by
Dan Luke
....was Van's new, four-place RV-10. They had a cockpit mockup outside the
tent for the tirekickers to sit in. The roominess is truly impressive,
especially the rear seats which hold two six-footers in comfort. Van is
projecting an 1100 lb. useful load for the airplane if you build it...

Meigs landing a setup?
Was the second emergency landing in two weeks at Meigs Field more than just
a coincidence? Was it a political setup? Mayor Daley apparently thinks so.
Daley didn't come right out and say it, but he insinuated that the private
pilot from Maine who made...

Oshkosh Rec.Aviation Get-together details... by
Jay Honeck
Okay, gang, last chance to get the details. Here's how it's gonna work:
Thursday night, immediately after the airshow, we're having a rec.aviation
get together at our campsite in the North 40 campground. We'll have a few
drinks (*gasp*!), and then head on over to Friar Tucks for dinner.
To find...

Air Force Museum expansion question by
[email protected]
I am planning a trip to the Air Force Museum in Dayton Ohio in a
couple of weeks and was just wondering if the work on the new
hangers/exhibit space is complete.
I know they were going to move around and reposition a lot of the
aircraft and would hate to go there and not be able to see...

Dayton-Wright Brothers as per recommendations. Got one of the last few tie
downs and rental cars due to about 50 experimentals stranded there on the...

C172S Landing accident by

A solo student (not mine) had a landing accident today. Landed on the
nose wheel, porpoised a few times, and stalled the airplane in a
slightly nose down attitude. The student was unharmed, but the
aircraft is totaled.
Our flight school has been moving towards an all-new aircraft fleet.

I was bumming around STS (Sonoma County Airport) yesterday evening visiting

after the airport closed (and becomes uncontrolled) and take a closer...

First Glider Flight by

Had my first glider ride Saturday, July 26. It was at Sterling, Ma. with the
Greater Boston Soaring Club. Had to wait all day. Should have gotten there
earlier, but it was definitely a memorable ride. We had one of the shorter
tow ropes, so we were in real close formation with a Piper Pawnee. I...
