AVIATIONTOOLBOX: How do you like your maps stitched? by
Kyler Laird
Recently I've been working a lot on manipulating the FAA sectionals I
purchased.
http://aviationtoolbox.org/raw_data/FAA_sectionals/
I've been amazed by the hundreds of people who have downloaded this data.
There's apparently some interest in it so I'd like to solicit input on
some of the projects...

Commercial polar routes? by
Folks,
I am a sailor and not an airline pilot.
Recently I had a lunch with a 747 captain and the subject of
polar airline routes came up.
I maintained I didn't think any commercial routes went directly over
the pole or north of 80 N.Lat because the great circle routes from
say San Francisco to...

Concorde vs Tornado F3 by

I sincerely hope that someone might be able to come to my aid in this very dark moment.
The scenario is the following:
About a month ago I watched a very interesting program on the Discovery Channel called “Flying heavy metal”. A large part of the program focused on the Concorde, during which...

Aviation magazines for sale by

I'm helping a friend sell his collection of aviation magazines. Haven't
finished cataloguing them yet but here are the titles. There are about
300 in total, dated 2000 to early 2005 and in like-new condition. Most
are newsstand bought so the covers are free of address labels:

The insane spitfire video clip by
gatt
If you haven't seen this yet give it a look. It's a Spitfire practically
mowing the lawn during a wheels-up flyby at the camera. WTF?!
This is rated R for (wholly appropriate) use of strong language.

Electric jets where are You? by
nrepeb
Yes it maybe look strange, but where are electric jets!? Maybe they hidden or something like that... I known that cost of developing engine maybe high, but there are now some electric planes. It's enough to say that 70% of plane ticket on longer distances is for fuel cost. Cheap airlines can throw...

Lightning arragements on a DC6B by
ben brugman
Hello All,
I am searching for the lightning arragements on a DC6B, specifically the
start of the sixties for the African continent.
By lightning arragements, I mean the lights which are visible from the
outside of the plane during the flight.
Thanks in advance,
Ben Brugman

Early Airbus A-3X series: 'Shear' effect on aft-most rows
On the first two Airbus widebody entrants(the 300 & 310), I distinctly noticed that the rear-most 10-12 passenger windows actually shear up, as do the ends of a classic ocean liner, along with the rows corresponding to that end of the...

The way wig wags animate. by
[email protected]
Hi,

My question is, when they are on both sides of the stop bar, do they animate in a particular way. For example, as a rough drawing ( zero =...
