Group Poll: How many hours between mag overhauls? by Doug
Yes. My thinking is this. You have one older mag and one newer. You also have one from one batch and one from another (or one rebuilt by one guy and another rebuilt by the other guy). So your odds are less that they will BOTH fail on the same flight, which is all you really have to worry about...

Zoom: video vs still by Juho Haapaniemi

Ameri-King by Ross
Has anyone done much business with Ameri-King? I purchased a brand new ELT from them (via Aircraft Spruce) last week and it came in with a defective ARM/OFF/ON switch. It would not stay in the ARM position. I overnighted it to Ameri-King for repair/replacement. I just got off the phone and they...

Backward Running Engine by mbremer216
Cherokee w/Lycoming 0360-A4A Normal flight in all respects. When shutting down, pulled throttle to idle and mix to idle cut-off. Engine took just a little longer than normal to run down. Just as it should have stopped, it caught and actually ran backward for a couple of turns before...

Would anyone know (and care to tell me) where to find the power ports found these days on airliners? I'd like to replace the cigarette lighter socket in my Skylane with one of those. Thanks. -jav

Tyeing down near the sea. by Victor
I used to keep my C172 in a Hangar on a relatively dry region. Now I had to move and the airport closest to home is near the sea and there is no hangar space available. There are a few things that concern me: How to best protect the plane against corrosion considering the circustances? I have...

High Oil Pressure at FT by Mike Spera
Ever since getting the overhauled engine (Lycoming 0-320-E3D), I have high oil pressure at full throttle for the runup and takeoff. I don't recall it ever making it to the red line until the last year or so and I have put 800 hours on it. It was always just below the red line at the first (0...

S.N.A.F.U. by Jay Honeck
So, things are going about the way they always do when it comes to aircraft panel work... 1. Trim switch problems As previously posted, electric trim switch dismantled, slightly modified, and repaired. Worked fine on the ground. Test flight today -- nothing. Works forward, not backward, just as...

Overhaul information by Jerry Jesion
I was wondering exactly which parts are generaly NOT replaced in an engine overhaul. Assume all new cylinders/pistons/rings/pushrods. I know that the crank is often not replaced if it checks to spec, and the cam may be reground and replaced but what about other parts? Are the con rods usually...
