Mogas and Peltier effect by
anaconda
I'm building an RV, and am considering using mogas, or at least having the
option of using it. Problem is that mogas has a higher vapor pressure (among
other anomalies), and this in turn can cause vapor lock. Routing of the fuel
lines is quite important, as well as the proper cooling of the...

AviaBellanca Skyrocket III Progress? by
andfitz
I had been watching their progress with the Skyrocket III until everything
just seemed to drop off. Web site is mostly down and no new info anywhere.
Does anybody know any details or where I can track their progress?
Thanks in advance

High Altitude operations (Turbo charge???) by
Andre
I operate off an airfield with a ground elevation of 5327 feet ASL.
Obviously my engine (VW 1835cc with Zenith Carb) feels the altitude
somewhat.
I am thinking....
Would Turbo charging help?
What about an electric blower to increase manifold pressure maybe?
Or how about a NOS system?

Exhaust for VW motor by
Andre
I am wondering...
My Sonerai has 4 stub exhausts cut to a 45 degree angle facing forward for
some back presssure.
I want to add some silencers to my setup. (Maybe one on each side...)
Is it important that the distance from each cilinder exhaust port to the
silencer is exactly equal or can I have...

Horsepower by
Andre
So now I'm thinking...
How do I measure the Horsepower of my Sonerai's 1835cc VW motor?
Or do I just make a couple of assumptions?
Prop 52" dia. 42" pitch motor can turn it 3000rpm static at WOT and a ground
elevation of 5000 feet and temperature of 31 degrees Celsius or 87.8 degrees
F.

EGT installation by
Andre
I have an EGT gauge and sensor arrangement that came out of a Jabiru.
I want to install it in my Sonerai.
What distance from the Exhaust port should I drill the hole for the sensor
probe?

Electronic Ignition by
Andre
Hi All!
My Sonerai is currently equiped with dual ignition. I've got a slick
magneto running off the flywheel end as well as a normal stock
distributor (that has been shortened somewhat and fixed timing) in
the normal distributor location.
The thing I don't like is the magneto hanging halfway...

Jabiru 5100 - any experiences yet? by
Andreas Maurer
Hi gentlemen,
subject says it all. Are there already any experiences with the new
Jabiru 5100 engine? So far the only information I have found was the
one on the Jabiru website.
Bye

prepreg fiberglass question by
Andrew Sarangan
I've heard of prepregs which have the resin and hardener separated
within the fabric, which can be activated by applying pressure with a
squeegee or similar tool. I searched the internet but I can only find
the standard premixed prepregs which need to be kept in a refrigerator
and cured at elevated...

Nav Lights using Luxeon LEDs by
Andrew Sarangan
Recently I designed and built a nav light system for my Europa aircraft
using the Luxeon LEDs with great results.
I also measured the radiation pattern (after fitting the LEDs to the
aircraft) and compared it to the FAR specs. It exceeds the requirements
by 3-5 times, and draw only 2 Amps total....

Questions from a newbie. by
Andrew Tubbiolo
Hi All:
I've held my private cirt for a year now, and it's time to stop
renting, or time to start the process of stopping. Homebuilding is an
option. Which kit? The more I look, the more I see. I'd really like to
hear what you builders have to say as to which kits I should look at.
After about...

Zenith Aircraft and Pull Type Rivets by

CC: Zenith Aircraft Company
I have an aeronautical engineer friend retired from McDonnell
Douglas who once was in charge of the Harrier project for the U.S.
team. I respect his opinion which is that pull type, "pop" rivets are
only used on aircraft where a bucked rivet could not possibly be...

I am afraid some of you homebuilders are looking at some of those the

Zzzzzzoom's business acumen by
Andy Asberry
I know it is a giant leap for many but let's assume Zoom was an
upstanding aviator/aviation writer. Why would he pay someone to
antagonize potential customers?
No matter how cute the Chihuahua, the tamale vendor would not keep him
if he peed on every customer's ankle.
