A01 vs. A02 METARs by
[email protected]
Regarding AUTOmated METARs, the AIM says there are two different kinds
of automated stations: "AO1 for automated weather reporting stations
without a precipitation discriminator, and AO2 for automated stations
with a precipitation discriminator. (A precipitation discriminator can
determine the...

A36 performance Figures by
Anthony Acri
Does anybody know where to get some performance specs on the Bonanaza A36?
Beta testing this aircraft for a software company and would like to see how
close the simulation comes to true aircraft performance.
If there are any sites I cam look at, I would appreciate it

AAL 489 Low-Fuel Track Plot by

The old thread is so long I am starting a new one with the approximately
flight track of AAL 489 plotted on the Dallas Sectional.

The newscaster stated that he was approximately 10 miles north of the
town of Bonham when he declared his emergency. This would be on the...

Abrupt Controller by
Kobra
Flyers,
I'll run this scenario past the group and see what you all think and is if
Mr. McNicoll can shed some light as well.
First, some quick background. At my airport if you are IFR and are heading,
say, southwest (as I was) it's too bad...you're clearance is to send you 22
miles north to a...

Accelerated Training Recommendation by
Mark
I'm looking to do an accelerated IFR course. Every now and then I see
a small thread about it. If I do a google search, I get dozens of
hits. I'm looking to talk to anyone that has taken a course, what
they thought of it, where and approx how much.
I've seen some of the big schools offer them...

Accuracy of GPS in Garmin 430/530 by
Will
Is there any way to have the Garmin 430/530 put its current display accuracy
on the primary display as an ongoing statistic, based on the number of
satellites in view? How, in general, do the Garmin units notify you of
situations where GPS accuracy has been compromised to a level that makes...

Actual Time in Sacramento by
three-eight-hotel
If this weather holds, it might be time for some of us newer IA pilots
to get some actual time in! I realize in most locations the visibility
is a little too low, but the season is definitely upon us...
Anybody at SAC planning on getting some actual in???

ADF in Europe by
Ron Rosenfeld
Are ADF's required outside of the United States?
I had a demo flight in a new Mooney Ovation2GX the other day. Quite a nice
airplane, by the way. Afterwards, looking at the price list, I noted an
ADF add-on for the Garmin G1000 panel as $15,500 (it's a Becker ADF, for
those who are interested;...

ADF or RMI? by
Tom S.
When I quit flying some years back, RMI's were expensive and found generally
only found in the "heavy metal".
Now they seems quite common? What particular advantages do they offer? I
can't find any good articles (other than marketing) on them.
I was wondering if I should add one to a bird I plan...

ADF Problem by
tony roberts
Hi
Today I was flying north and my ADF was tuned to an NDB.
The needle pointed at 330 degrees (or 11 O'clock) until I reached the
NDB, and then it swung until it pointed behind.
I dialed up the next NDB and it pointed at 330 again until passage.
And I dialed up another NDB - same indication - all...

ADF Required by
Ted Timmons
When an approach specifies ADF REQUIRED (as in Rochester, NY KROC ILS RWY 4
or VOR RWY 4) is there any legal way to fly the approach without an ADF?
It appears to me that the only reason for the ADF requirement is for the
missed approach. Can the approach be flown leagally by requesting...

ADF vs. StormScope antenna by

I'm curious about the technical differences between the antenna for a
StormScope or StrikeFinder and the antenna for an ADF. Are they
essentially the same thing, with different connectors?
Thanks, and all the best,
David

Adiabatic lapse rate by
Everett M. Greene[_2_]
Does the lapse rate equation hold in all cases? I was recently
wondering what kind of temperature would be reached at 35 Kft
over Arctic Canada in January. It seemed that the lapse rate
equation would lead you to expect temperatures that would be
causing nitrogen and carbon dioxide to be...
