Wobble pump Handle?? by
jerry wass
I just acquired a WW-II Wobble pump(D-2) and would like to make a handle
for it--can anyone steer me to a picture of one WITH HANDLE ?
I have already broached an 8" length of 3/4 SQ aluminum to fit
the shaft---I'd just like to make it similar to an
original pump handle. Thanx Jerry

F/A-18F loadout for war-at-sea info needed for model project by
Matt Wiser
I'm just about ready to add weapons to a Hasagawa 1/72 F/A-18F (decal option taken will be
VFA-2), and would like to do a war-at-sea load. Besides the two AIM-9X and two AIM-120s
that came with the kit, what weapons would be suitable for a mixed war-at-sea load? I'm
thinking 2x HARM, and 2x...

water inlets on ship by
mah
Not really an aviation topic, but at least naval.
Was looking at a book on the Iowa class battleships. Went through the
engineering section and saw the design of the engines. A thought came
to mind - where does the cooling water come from or are they single pass
engines with the steam exhausted...

Iranian F-14 Units in Combat by
TV
Sorry for posting on topic, but I can't help talk about the beloved F-14!
Recently, I finished reading Tom Cooper and Farzad Bishop's book on the 1980
Iran/Iraq war, and the role of Iranian f-14 units in the conflict. Overall,
the book states that the US and other sources greatly underestimated...

Stop Loss (Not specifically a NAVAIR issue but will seriously affect it) by
Bill Kambic
Got this from MOA today:
Issue 3: Stop-Loss: The New Draft
The more we think about the Defense Department's plan to meet wartime
requirements for the next few years, the more concerned we get.
The plan is to increase Army manning by 30,000 for the next few years.
But that won't be...

Trivia ?: 1st NFO CAG by
Mike Weeks
Perhaps some input from the readers to this question can at least narrow down
the possibilities:
Anyone know who they believe was the 1st (or one of the 1st) NFO CAGs?
This has come up an off-net discussion, and it would be nice to mark the
appropriate individual in the CAG DB.
Thanks.

making turns for 15 knots by
mah
In reading some of the novels and other books, you hear the sonar
operators saying "Making turns". How did you get a blade count
converted to knots?
Thanks

Pictu Sneak Peek at 6th Gen? by

"It's Boeing's latest artist's conception of the
U.S. Navy's proposed F/A-XX replacement for
the F/A-18E/F, notionally needed on carrier
decks around 2025. It's described as "6th
generation", but quite what that means I'm not
sure - expect that it's tailless for all-aspect
broadband stealth, like...

Osprey Fire Days Before Big Contract Awarded
Whoops, this wasn't reported by the Marines or Bell/Boeing last month
when they were counting down the days to the Pentagon finally awarding
a five-year, $10.4 billion contract for 167 new V-22 Ospreys.
