Introducing my dog to the plane by
Michael 182
I have a 9 month old yellow lab. Very well trained - come, sit, stay, down,
fetch, drop, heel, crate, etc. Loves the car, jumps right in. Want to start
taking him on flights with me. Any comments on introducing him to the plane?
Thanks,
Michael

Pitts Groundloop by
Michael 182
I was sitting on the FBO bench today when a Pitts groundlooped. The pilot is
fine - he walked away from the plane. The plane seemed to have suffered
pretty minor damage as well. About a 40 degree 12 knot crosswind - certainly
not windy conditions.
The comment by the FBO owner was "the most...

Flew a seaplane by
Michael 182
Just returned from a vacation renting a house on a Long Lake in Naples, ME.
Got out for a two hour seaplane lesson from Naples Seaplane Service. What a
great experience!
I have about 1200 hours in 182's, so my seat of the pants flying is pretty
weak. I was flying a Piper Cub, and the first thing...

Mountain wave by
Michael 182
Hit a mountain wave today near Pikes Peak at FL190 in my TR-182. First I
couldn't maintain FL190 (I only have 300-400 fpm climb at that altitude
anyway) as my indicated airspeed descended to 80 K. Called ATC, got a block
altitude, FL 180 - 200. About a minute later I needed the upside. Shot...

Atlantic City Lights by
Michael Bremer
Decided as part of my Wings refresher training to dust off the night flying
skills and give them a once over. I am based near Philly and flew to
Atlantic City (KACY). As we were approaching from the NW I noticed a bank
of very large and bright floodlights pointing back toward me. They were
about...

RONs - NJ -> OSH by
Michael Bullock
I'm planning on taking my 4 & 6 year olds to their first Oshkosh.
However, I don't think they'll have the stamina or patience to make the
trip from my Central NJ location into OSH in one day. Probably would be
best to fly a few hours and then do some kid-friendly activity for the
rest of the...

Dauphin Island PIREP by
Michael C Finke
Thanks to those who recommended Dauphin Island, Alabama, for our flying &
camping vacation. It was a delightful break; the people down there are
wonderful. And we lucked out with the weather. Since I was asked to
provide a PIREP, here goes, in brief:
First, as regards approaching the island,...

Gulf Shores/ Dauphin Island by
Michael C Finke
Anybody have tips for my planned flying/camping trip to Gulf Shores or
Dauphin Island? Which is the better destination? Can one tie down for
several days at the latter?
Thanks,
Mike

mountain flying lesson Denver by
Michael C Finke
We're heading out to Denver (by car) to see the in-laws, and I'd like to
try to get a mountain flying lesson in. Any suggestions? Good experiences?
I'll have to rent a plane; Centennial would be closest.
Thanks,
Mike

Vapour trails by
Michael Calwell
Hello,
Question from a complete landlubber.
I work outdoors beneath the flightpath to Edinburgh Airport.
I take it that vapour trails are the condensed water contained in the
air ingested by the engines. My question is, how much air does an engine
ingest at cruise? How would you visualise that...

Warrior POH by
Michael Egan
I recently purchased a 1980 Warrior, and I noticed that pages 4-3, 4-4, 4-5,
4-6 are missing from the POH. The specific model year serial number is
28-8016209, and the POH publication number is VB-880. If someone who has
this same model of Warrior could please scan the pages that are missing...

The demise of Thielert by
Michael Henry[_2_]
Aviation diesels have been "on the horizon" for decades. I think Zoche
has been claiming imminent certification since the early '90s. It was
around that time that I first became interested in aviation and I've
been following the progress of aero-diesels ever since.
Thielert was, to me, the...

Which handheld transceiver? by
Michael Henry[_2_]
Hi all,
My local radio shop only sells Icom for about AU$550.
So, a few questions:
What of the other brands? Vertex Standard? Sportys SP-200?
I imagine they're all pretty decent brands for them to have been around
as long as they have. Is any one brand easier to use? Better made?
