AOPA Expo sales? by
NotMe
Does anyone know if any of the aviation vendors will be offering sales via
their websites during the AOPA Expo?
I know many have sales on site but not being able to attend, I'm still
looking to buy some goods at a discounted price.
Thanks!

Crash in Japan by
Big John
Evening news tonight (Friday CST) showed a Russian bird crashing at an
airshow in Japan. Pilot survived.
Clip was over before I could focus on it. Looked like some kind of a
jet???
Voice over said he was making a low pass and clipped a pole.
No injuries on ground (thank God).

DC-VA-MD ADIZ by
Marissa Long
As I understand it, flying in an ADIZ (VFR) requires a
"DEFENSE VFR" flight plan to be filed. Is this true with
the DC ADIZ as well?
What are the differences between the ADIZs off the coasts
and the DC ADIZ?

Great circle formulae, True course and actual heading by
Ed Williams
I am just surprised that they vary so much depending what model is been
used.
Really? Mostly, I think they are within a degree.
What model is the best? And also it seems that by the poles the calculation
are somewhat wrong, is it just my imagination?

Rallye/Koliber AD's and opinions by
R. Wubben
Does anyone out there have any opinions about the PZL Koliber (the
later day reincarnation of the Rallye 150 ST)?
I've heard of an engine mount AD on the older Rallye's, but does it
apply to the newer Koliber's?
Any other thoughts or opinions on these aircraft? Anything else to
watch out...

Right from the get go I discovered a phantom rider with a foot on the right

Model Airplane Across the Atlantic by
Michael 182
This may well be old news to a lot of you, since it occurred in August, but
it was new to me, and a pretty cool accomplishment. On page 34 of this
month's Flying Mag there is a blurb about a model airplane named "Spirit of
Butts Farm" built by Maynard Hill that flew from Cape Spear to Ireland....

Cost sharing revisited by
Roger Long
I started a thread about a week ago in which I passed on something I was
told by AOPA two or three times. You can be in violation of your private
pilot privileges if you make a flight solely to accommodate the needs of
your passenger, even if you accept no reimbursement for costs.
A number of...

If airspeed indicators had odometers by
Wayne
Windy as all get out today, the plane tied down on the apron took quite
a beating. Saw the tail lift on a 170 and two 150's actually left the ground
a few times. While scrambling around trying to keep them pointed into the
wind and resecuring the wheel chocks, I noticed some pretty high...
