Letter from TSA by
Rosspilot
I opened my mailbox today and found a letter from the Transportation Security
Administration. "Gulp", I thought to myself. What did I do?
Turned out to be an answer to a letter I had written months ago (July)
regarding the damn Presidential TFRs, and the difficulty they were presenting
to...

speaking of stats by
R. Hubbell
Imagine an Airbus A320 crash this week? And the week after that and for every
week from here on out. What would happen? There would be investigations and
outrage and it would scare a lot of people away from flying.
I read something similar to the paragraph above in an insurance mag...

Canadian Pirep required - St Hubert - CYHU by
Bob Chilcoat
I'm taking the Archer up to Montreal (CYHU) from the NY Metro area (KSMQ)
tomorrow (the holiday traffic should be below me). Any recommendations as
to FBO? According to the little info I can gather, there are four FBO's at
St. Hubert: Montreal Flying Club, Avtech, Max Aviation,...

Recommendations for FBO etc. at BVY (Beverly)? by
Andrew Gideon
I know I've asked before, but I may actually get to go this time.
Has anyone recommendations for FBO etc. at BVY? I'll be staying over a
couple of nights, so being able to tie down for a while is important.
Fuel, friendly, weather for when I leave, etc. are all also factors.
Thanks...

The A300 hit in Baghdad by
Jay Honeck
Over on the binary channel (alt.binaries.pictures.aviation) someone has
posted three amazing pictures of the A300 that was apparently hit by a SAM
while landing at Baghdad. One in flight picture shows the port wing in
flames.
Remarkable that they were able to get that thing on the ground...

PCL for helicopters question by
Slav Inger
Hi all,
Sorry haven't been participating much lately, "free time" has become
just a figure of speech for me lately. Quick question: I'm not a
helicopter pilot, so I don't have any first-hand experience with this.
A family member is an electrician and works at a hospital where they're
thinking of...

Rainbow Air - Guaranteed Training, too good to be true? by
dsfcal
I've been looking around for helicopter and possibly combined with
fixed-wing training. I came across Rainbow Air which seems to have a
very unique program but sounds a little bit too good to be believable.
However it seems as though the operation has a good reputation in...

Piper nosewheel steering linkage by
Jeremy Lew
I have heard differing accounts of whether the rudder pedals turn Piper
nosewheels when they are not on the ground. I know Cessnas have some sort
of cam arrangement which disengages the steering mechanism when weight is
taken off of the nosewheel, but there's nothing definitive about this...

Learning to fly in the Richmond, VA area by

Hiya,
Does anyone have suggestions as to where to go for lessons in the Richmond,
VA area? I'm north of the James, but can travel, of course. I'd prefer not
to go as far as Charlottesville or Williamsburg, where I know there are
Cessna schools. (Don't remember the exact term.)
Thanks very...
