interesting day to Catalina by
lance smith
So I recently got my cast removed* and was able to go flying. I did
some local pattern work one day, then decided to go on a short XC to
AVX (Catalina Island) this weekend. I was a little rusty but
everything came back in short order.
Departing from CRQ(Carlsbad-Palomar) was hectic- we had santa...

Flying in the soup by
Victor
Being a VFR pilot with almost 200 hrs I never flew in IMC
Today I went out for the first time with my CFII to fly in IMC. It was
a great experience to be more confident in case of an emergency. I
would suggest everybody to do the same. Next on my list is basic
aerobatics.

Diving and flying by
Chris
Flying a spamcan at 1000-2000ft after scuba-diving is identical to
diving in mountain lakes at these specific altitudes (well it's actually
saver because diving in mountain lakes gets you to altidude immediatley
after surfacing, in contrast to flying where some additional time is
needed to remove...

What are the odds? by
Capt.Doug
It was a clear calm morning. The sun was just coming up over the ocean. The
temperature was around 70F. I had an easy commute in to work. The employee
parking shuttle bus driver waited for me to walk over and board instead of
making me wait 15 minutes for the next one. I had only one Jeppeson...

Rewriting JAR licence into FAA lincence - NOT validation by
Astrid
I would like to rewrite my JAR licence (PPL) into a FAA licence. I already
have a validation (US licence based on foreign licence). Do anybody know the
procedure? I know that I don't need a regular american licence to fly in the
US but because of some special reasons I try to get a stand alone...

FAA to order fuel tank modifications on 3,800 commercial airplanes by
Larry Dighera
The wheels grind slowly (8 years later)....
U.S. regulators said they plan to order modifications on 3,800
commercial airplanes to reduce chances of a fuel tank explosion
like the one that brought down TWA Flight 800 in 1996. The
initiative, once dismissed as too expensive and impractical for
the...

I have the above mentioned device, along with a 128 MB data card and

format...

Showalter in Orlando charging $45 to open gate by
Piperflyer
Showalter at Orlando Exec would not give out the gate code for re-entry
after 10:30PM for my return flight and now charges $45 for opening the gate
for re-entry to the airport after hours. Does anyone know if Kissimmee
airport is doing the same or other airports in the Orlando area?

Canadian cross country -- got any old WAC charts? by
Duane MacInnis
Hello out there,
I am planning a long "life list" XC this summer, Vancouver to Halifax CZBB

The airplane is nearly ready, and planning has begun. What I need is a
series of old WAC charts for route planning.
I intend to plan the routing and do the research...

The thing I don't understand is the relative's comment that "they won't let
