F-14 Turkey? by
Wlengel
I have a friend (golfing buddy) who was a engineer back in the beginning
phase of the F-14. I mentioned that I had notice on this NG that it
was referred to as the Turkey. He wasn't happy with that a said it was

Tankers and strike packages (Was: EA-18G vs ES-3) by
[email protected]

launch.
That...

F/A-18 approach speed rule of thumb by
tscottme
What's the gouge for knowing the proper approach speed based on weight
(carrier landing)? I may get a chance for a few hours in a sim over the
holidays. The sim may use a CF-18 model, which I understand to be similar
to an A/B model Hornet. I'm assuming an A model is closest approximation.
Any...

Oilspill on aircraftcarriers by
Max Richter
The Navy used to have plenty of radial-pistonengined aircraft on
carriers.
Now my question: in radial-engines oil is collecting in the lower
cylinders when its stopped. Thats is one reason to handturn the engine
before it is started. Then the oil is queezed out in the exhaustsystem
and eventually on...

D
I'm writing an article about the North Korean shoot down of a Navy EC-121M
surveillance aircraft in 1969. The plane was from VQ-1. Thirty men died.
