Piper Arrow Shoulder Belt Tensioner by
John T[_8_]
My partner and I are having a discussion about how the original pilot's
shoulder belt tensioner is supposed to work in our 1978 Arrow III.
Currently, it always applies tension, which bothers him a bit during
long flights. He thinks it should latch or ratchet so that once it
finds a position,...

Your Chance to Design a Fly-In by
Jay Honeck
Okay, so I've been "volunteered" to be on the board of directors of the
biggest fly-in event in Iowa City's history, the Eastern Iowa Big Kids Toy
Show, scheduled for May 20 - 21, 2006.
See us at www.BigKidToyShow.com (Yes, they made me wear a -- *sob* -- TIE
for the photos... It was awful! ...

Vertical Card Compass compatible with "V" brace? by
Jeff P
I have a 172XP with a float kit "V" brace on the glare shield. Does
anyone have any experience with mounting a vertical card compass next
to hunks of steel tubing? Do you think I have any hope of being able
to calibrate here?

Do you think that Grass is ok with a M20K or it's dangerous ?
Well ... it's not dangerous, but it might be expensive :-)
You can operate a Mooney off grass. Lots of people do. However
you really want the smoothest possible grass, which is fussed over
and...

HID Lighting by
Mike Rapoport
Has anyone installed Xevision HID lighting on their airplane under a 337
approval? How do you like it? Any issues getting approval? I landed my
Helio in the dark yesterday which worked out OK but I would prefer a
reliable landing light!

Need Help with VOR error adjustment by
PiperFlyer
King KI-209 with MX170B, shows an error of 30 degrees. Is there an
adjustment screw on the indicator or a correction potentiometer on the radio
to correct the error? I work weekdays and the avionics shops are open only
on weekdays.

Mandatory SB565 Lycoming fuel pump by

I received a notice in the mail. It says,
"If your Lycoming engine has a diaphragm-type fuel pump with Lycoming
P/N LW-15473 installed, and has a date code of 3201, the pump must be
replaced PRIOR TO NEXT FLIGHT."
The defective pumps were shipped from Lycoming between 10/1/01 and
2/2/04.

Transponder test after static system opened? by
Jack I
Hi all,
So are you required to get a transponder test any time the static
system has been opened (for VFR flight)?
You are required to get a static/altimeter/xpdr test for IFR flight
any time the static system has been opened (91.411).
91.413 refers to maintenance on the transponder (and...

Stop Making Sense by
Bret Ludwig
Light aircraft are not a business tool. There is _no such thing_ as a
rational purchase of a light airplane. It's a heinously expensive toy
that will likely be a financial disaster no matter what. Don't go 95%
broke buying an unfulfilling spam can. Buy what you want, which if you
have anything but...

Navy sues man for plane he recovered in swamp by
marc
Strange story. Why would the Navy care about a plane that crashed and was
destroyed 60 years ago? If they really want it they should *reward* the guy
who dragged it out of a swamp for them and started restoring it, not sue
him! Unless there is more to the story not mentioned here (e.g. they...

When we went to see the airport manager to sign the contract and get our

??Build rolling tool chest? by

You know the rolling mechanics tool chests that provide some work room
on top? you see these in any A&P shop.
I don't need one, so I don't wanna spend much $$$, but if I could
build one for nothing, it would be fun to have.
Anyone built their own rolling tool chest? - Mike

Amphibian/floatplane insurance? by

Howdy,
Curious as to what people are paying to insure waterbirds- I'm a low-time
PPL-ASEL/S-IR and would like to someday get to use that "Sea" rating a
little more often. As it is now I do have the opportunity to build some solo
time in a 172 floatplane up in Maine but that's a 4-hour drive from...

Sensenich Wood Prop Question by

propeller that's for sale is a W72C-42. I have a C-65-8 taper shaft--
will the C work on my...
