Yellow tags by
Mike Z.
I am still filtering out all the usual paperwork that comes with a previously loved airplane. You know, the usual receipts for 12
new batteries dating back to WWII etc.
Anyway, there are lots of yellow tags stapled in the logs and almost as many in various envelopes.
I was scanning the logs onto...

Stiction in the yoke by
Jay Honeck
A previous owner, in an attempt to make his yokes move more freely, used dry
graphite in the yokes on our Pathfinder.
Of course, as moisture and condensation came and went, this graphite clumped
up and got gritty. This would restrict motion, so he apparently added MORE
graphite.
Long story...

Priming the engine and Mag check questions by
JDupre5762
A person told me it is better to push the primer slowly rather
then quick shots.
Slower is better on pulling out the primer as this allows the primer cylinder
to draw in all the fuel it can take. Pushing the charge in quickly is probably
best as the velocity may help in atomizing the...

equipment list? by
Tim
What is required as far as a formal equipment list for part 91
operations? In reading 91.205 and listening to one instructor I know, I
cannot reconcile what he says with the FARs. He states that an aircraft
must have an equipment list. I cannot find an equipment list for the
plane I fly...

Known Icing requirements by
Jeffrey Ross
I'm a little confused as to the requirements that an aircraft must meet
to launch into known icing conditions. To further add to my confusion,
the regulatory requirements (may be just the interpretation of?) has
changed over the years.
My personal situation, I own a '69 Aztec (D model) and 1974...

garmin or something else by
Kelly
I'm trying to figure out what portable device to buy to provide in-
flight weather, as well as terrain info. Electronic approach plates
and enroute charts, as well as flight planning capability, would also
be a plus, but not essential. I fly a Cessna 172 that is already
equipped with a Garmin...

Archer wheel pants on a Cherokee by
[email protected]
Hey all. I've got a hershey-bar PA-28 that's been without wheel pants since
we bought it. Looks a bit ghetto, and I'd like the speed increase available by
putting some on. Awhile back, I ebayed up a set of archer pants thinking I may be
able to make them work. After looking at it, it seemed...

Any one have any sales advice on piston twins v.s turbo prop twins. I'm
currently in the process of aquiring a charter buisness that operates 2

When does an engine needs an overhaul? There are several indications
that the engine is comming to the end of its life. But what do peolple

Our old panel mounted (yes very old) Apollo 820 GPS by IIMorrow

My Engine Fire!! by

It's 10pm. It's 6 degrees outside. I decide to go flying. I fly an Cessna

The engine has a Tanis preheater. During the pre-flight I notice that the
engine block feel reasonably warm. Everything else looks good.
I prime 3 or 5 shots and crank the engine. No joy. I let it crank for...

Logging oil changes by
[email protected]
As some of you know, I'm in the market for an airplane. To this endeavor, I
find myself reading through a lot of maintenance log books.
I've noticed that some people log oil changes but some do not.
I'm a little worried about the owners who don't because I don't know if the
oil is ever changes...

Engine Preheater - any good? by
Bob Chilcoat
My partners and I are considering this preheater:
http://aerothermheaters.com/
It's advantages seem to be that, unlike Tannis and other sump heaters, it's
not permanently attached to the airplane, and therefore doesn't require an
STC or W&B recalculation (unless you forget it and leave it attached...

I think I lost a nut somewhere as my engine is making a strange sound
on take off and landing. I have amplified the sound track in this
