Room available for EAA by
[email protected]
We had someone from Kansas City who was going to stay with us during the EAA
Airventure, but changed his mind about coming. So now my wife and I are
happy to offer our spare bedroom in our house in northern Appleton,
Wisconsin, about 35 minutes from EAA in Oshkosh. It isn't much, just a
futon...

Jay Honeck Ercoupe on a roof by
[email protected]
Hey Jay! We found an Ercoupe mounted on the roof of a gas station in
Wautoma, Wisconsin. I thought of you and your hotel immediately, of course.
Maybe you could do something similar. I'll post photos I took of it on
alt.binaries.pictures.aviation.

Trey Lessard posted the following on the Yahoo Tomahawk group that I thought
ya'll might find interesting:
N2426N is now deceased...it was 'bartered' to one of the folks who
was owed alot of money. The engine was then rebuilt by someone at
KBAZ, and the new owner sold it to my brother and I. My...

As I've never been in South Africa I wonder if there's somebody among you
that could provide me...

Expired WAC Charts by
AXA
Does anyone out there have any or all expired WAC charts that they
would like to sell or give away? As I've seen posted before, I'd like
to try and use them as wallpaper.
Thanks in advance,
AXA

The Discovery channel Crash of a 727 by
a[_3_]
I'd be interested in comments about this program.
It was two years in the planning, but the team didn't figure out that a Skymaster chase plane at full throttle could not keep up with the 727 on approach.
They didn't figure out that you should not fly an approach at typical glide slopes for...

NOTAM: low level IFR pending by
a[_3_]
My grandson, on the cusp of not taking Santa seriously, asked me about
him. He knows a little about aviation slang so I told him that IFR
means I fly reindeer and that it's a special thing the FAA allows at
low levels only one night a year, and that at low level it's not a
threat to other airplanes...

Basement workshop science and start-up businesses, speaking ofbatteries. . . by

Imagine for a moment that you were a really good electro chemist, that
you had enough money to allow you to do applied research on battery
technology, you had an invention that improved energy density for
batteries, and that you were also somewhat knowledgeable as an
entrepreneur. So you have this...

an interesting in flight experiment by
a[_3_]
Next time you're at altitude and in cruise mode, switch from 'both' to
a single bank of spark plugs. It will remind you what happens should
you have one side decide to go in/op when in flight. I had the engine
(IO 360) go rough a couple of weeks ago, but rough was a lot better
than the very smooth...

En route altitudes and safety by
a[_3_]
A recent thread reminded me it might be worth discussing an personal
flying practice. When en route, as a way of reducing the likelihood
of a midair by about a binary order of magnitude (that's a factor of
two for the non mathematically inclined) I fly the nominal altitude
less 100 feet VFR, or...

Taken from an on line news article, but I've removed the name of the pilot.

"He observed a silver truck with white camper in his driveway and...
