Why do constant speed power setting charts limit RPM? by Ben Jackson
A typical power chart for a constant speed prop will limit the RPM to 2400 at all altitudes and power settings. The 75% power table will just end when it is no longer possible to make enough manifold pressure to get 75% HP out of the engine at 2400 RPM. In contrast, a fixed pitch prop will turn...

Aerobatic training in Washington/Oregon by Ben Jackson
I'd like to get some aerobatic training in the Washington/Oregon area. I'm near Portland, but I'd be willing to fly a few hours out to another airport. I don't want to fly in competition (or even solo for that matter) just for fun. But I do want training (starting with spins, for example) not...

Window Blowout by Ben Jeffrey
SEATTLE, Washington (AP) -- A critical-care nurse aboard an air ambulance fought to keep from being sucked out of the cabin when a window blew out of the aircraft at 20,000 feet. "I guess it wasn't my day to die," said Chris Fogg, who lives near Boise, Idaho, and was flying with a patient and...

Need replacement medical certificate by Ben Smith
My vehicle was broken into a couple weeks ago, and I don't mind the $75 CD player being taken, the butt-munch took my bag of flight gear! In the bag were my (2) H10-13.4 headsets, kneeboard, charts, checklists, LOGBOOK, and my medical certificate. Luckily I had a fairly recent copy of my logbook....

Need Advice by Ben Smith
Hi All - I've decided to confess to R.A.P. that I am in need of some help and advice. I have lost my passion and confidence of flying. Since February, for the first time in my life, I started to suffer from symptoms of anxiety. At first, I didn't really know what was wrong, just that I didn't...

Jumpseating by Ben Smith
Does anyone know if 'jumpseating' is still a employee fringe benefit with FedEx, UPS, etc? Or did the FedEx 705 & 9-11 incidents ruin it all? -- Ben C-172 - N13258 @ 87Y
