Finding Time by [email protected]
"Where do you find the time?" That's one of the more common questions I'm asked. Probably the best answer is that I don't watch TV. Oh, we've got one -- great big thing the kids bought for us, mostly so they could watch the Bowl games when they come over to visit during the holidays. We watch...

Jaun n Zoom by Michael Casey
Give it up guys. I have had the misfortune to raise a child with mental illness. As a young adult, because of his illness, the only people that would associate with him were those in the same boat as he was in. They supported each others phobias and fantasies and defended each other,...

Playing the Cripple Card by [email protected]
The visitors lower their voices as they enter the patio, where I've rigged a work-station suitable to my wheel-chair. I've lost forty pounds since June and quite frankly, look like hell warmed over. There is a general stiffening of upper lips as the visitors prepare to not show how they feel and,...

Metal vs Wood (T2 vs VP) by [email protected]
Recent threads on RAH have caused an increase in private posts. When three or more people ask the same question -- or substantially the same -- I feel it justifies a public response. In this case the question(s) had to do with wood versus metal with regard to ease (or difficulty) of construction,...

PIX -- Oil pump & new sump drain by [email protected]
To All, The last couple of days we've talked about VW oil pumps, and about making a new drain for the sump of a converted VW. I've just posted some pictures of an assortment of VW oil pumps, and a little How-To for the sump drain I use. I've posted the pictures to the chuggers group, in the...

VW in Fly Baby, Piet, et al by [email protected]
To All: In a recent thread about VW powered wooden airplanes, reference was made to wooden airplanes that can NOT be powered by a converted Volkswagen, leaving a false impression -- and getting me lotsa mail :-) The VW has been used to power a modified 'Sky Scout' (sp?), Bernard Pietenpol's...

Veeduber and Others, what about the VP-1 by Copperhead
Bob and other Group members, I’ve purchased plans to the VP-1 and downloaded study plans for the VP-2, all research and background indicates the VP-1 is the best build of the two. Some have lengthened the wingspan or created a bit more fuselage space for storage and it appears the 1835cc is engine...

VW Oil Change by [email protected]
The VW engine does not come with an oil filter. There is an oil STRAINER surrounding the oil pick-up tube in the sump but its job is exactly the same as the oil strainer found on the inlet of the oil pump on a Ford V8... or any other modern engine... which is to PROTECT THE OIL PUMP. Protect it...

Macchi M.5 Italian fighter by cavelamb himself[_4_]
When Jason Petroelje first scanned the plans for the Italian World War I fighter plane he hoped to build, this is what greeted him: "Idrovolante a scafo e galleggiantini laterali, biplano, monomotre, monoposto ..." Petroelje is Frisian, not Italian. And although he spent a couple of years in...
