Fuel needed to go 3000nm in a 777 by
Chris W
Can someone tell me if I am doing this right. I found this pdf document...
http://www.boeing.com/commercial/airports/acaps/7772sec3.pdf
using the chart on page 2 of the pdf file. Suppose you want to go
3000nm with a "Brake Release Gross Weight" of 480,000 lbs. Your "OEW
Plus Payload" would...

The Seven Levels of Aviation (not for the humor-impaired) by
C J Campbell
The Seven Levels of Aviation (Satire) (and with apologies to Ken Rockwell,
the Seven Levels of Photographers)
Master: Level 7 (the highest level)
The Master has a Vision in a tangible form called Flying. He and the aircraft
are one. The Master is the aircraft and the aircraft is the Master. The...

extra GA traffic noticed by
daffy
The Bay Area has more small plane traffic this week.
I notice more out of state "N" numbers on those planes
flying, creating more NOISE.
It must be the all the bad weather back east causing
all the small planes to fly above me.

If user fees go into effect I'm done by
[email protected]
All I have to say about user fees is that if they are implemented and
I am going to be nickeled and dimed to death by a bureaucratic
nightmare that adds overhead and significantly more per hour cost to
an already expensive per hour rate for flying time, I am going to hang
up my wings...
Just...

What a week.. by
Capt.Doug
Thanks to my employer's competition who was mentioned profusely on CNN
lately, and the winter weather, it has been an interesting week. All 4 days
of my trip were evening trips that turned into night trips. Wednesday night
had me landing at Logan at 2:30 AM. The approach was a roller coaster....

AD list? by
Danny Deger
I am in the market for a Sport Aviation plane. How do I find out what AD
apply to a plane? Is there a web site somewhere that lists the ADs for a
given plane?

User Fees debate by
doylflier
If someone really wanted to hit the issues on this, they would do a
detailed comparison among three similar countries with similar
challenges and traditions, i.e., the U.S., Canada and Australia.
Europe has multiple side issues, which make the comparison less
useful. On the main point, I don't have...

Garmin 196 battery connection? by
RNR[_2_]
I have owned a 196 for about four years, without any serious concerns.
Last week, I encountered a problem that is serious. While the unit
works fine on aircraft power, it will not function on battery power.
It will turn on but it will shut itself off within 30 seconds. This
happens every time. ...

Yuri's Night 2007 by
HAL 9000
Dear space advocates:
"Let's go!"
These were the words spoken by Russian Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin as he
embarked
on the historic first manned space flight on 12 April 1961. Twenty
years later
on 12 April 1981, the US launched the first space shuttle flight. We

Straight-ins at uncontrolled airports? by
Danny Deger
I haven't flown in a while, but am in the market for a used plane.
I recalling hearing somewhere that straight-in approaches are now approved
at uncontrolled airports. Is this correct?

Another warbird lost by
Kingfish
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9161106816384837258
This makes me nuts. An irreplaceable Corsair is lost in an air race -
a Super Corsair at that, which I think was one of a handful of R-4360
powered F4Us. Glad the pilot got out, but another piece of history is
gone, and for no good reason...

faster 182? by
Dan Luke
Got a demo flight in a new Skylane Saturday morning. Very nice airplane.
The G1000 stuff was a bit bewildering at first but otherwise it flew just
like any good 182...
....except for one thing: it trued 147 knots! Non-turbo at 5,500 feet, 10 deg.
C OAT, 135 KIAS. Wow! That is 10 knots...
