Yeah! I'm back online..No thanks to Charley. by
CFLav8r
Well it's been a week since Charley took out my internet cable line, but I'm
back online today.
The damage that Charley did to the planes across the street at Orlando
Executive is indeed sad to see.
Many of the hangars have also received quite a bit of damage, one even looks
like a bomb went off...

yaw damper for light twin by
Frank Ch. Eigler
Hi -
Can someone share some personal experiences of flying small airplanes
with a yaw damper? In particular, does the slipping crosswind landing
technique require the yaw damper to be shut off on final? Does it
significantly aid passenger comfort? When installed in a light twin,
does it mask...

Yakolev YAK-40 by
Ramapriya
Folks,
Has anyone piloted a YAK-40 earlier? Or known anyone who has used it
for a decent length of time?
Just needed feedback on its performance, reliability and durability.
Like I said in another thread, there's one in disuse here in Khartoum
that I've heard is up for sale real cheap.
One other...

Yak 52 in NJ by
Bob Chilcoat
Marco,
There used to be one at Somerset (SMQ), but IIRC it was for sale for a long
time and I haven't seen it for some time. ISTR that it moved to Sky Manor
or Alexandria. I'll ask around tomorrow and see if I can find out where it
went.

YAHQ- Any PIREPS on "in ear" PNR headsets? by
Brad Zeigler
Yes, another headset question!
Has anyone had a chance to use Clarity Aloft's headset
(www.clarityaloft.com) or the new lightspeed Lightflight L1
(http://www.anrheadsets.com/productsL1.asp) by chance?
I'm curious about these new in ear style passive noise reduction headsets as
they seem to offer...

YAFSS by
Dave D
First solo today. Beautiful clear skies like I have'nt seen for a few weeks
here. Wind was just a few knots right down the runway. We got out early
before the pattern filled up, just a few planes all departing the scene.
Can't wait until I can take off on my own cross county trips. Did I...

Yaesu/Vertex coax antenna adaptor by
RM
regarding the long thread on transceivers...
I still have the BNC antenna adaptor for the stolen unit. If any Vertex
fan would like it enough to stop by and pick it up (can't see as it's
worth packing up and mailing), I'd let it go for five bucks or maybe a
few beers. In Dallas, near ADS.

Xmas decorations and safety by
[email protected]
There was a thread not very long ago about the relative (un)safety
performance of light aircraft.
Some posters compared GA with motorcycles, cars etc etc
Now, last saturday there was a safety related article about Xmas
decorations in our newspaper.
It appears that every hour two to three US...

XM Weather/Garmin 496 PIREP by
Jay Honeck
Mary and I spent several long days at OSH this week, researching our
in-cockpit weather options. Because the manufacturers of our current
GPS receivers (AvMap and Lowrance) have stupidly decided not to pursue
in-cockpit weather for their hardware, our options were extremely
limited. They...

XM Weather in Canada by
randall g
I just bought the Garmin 496 and I want to sign up for the aviation
weather service. Unfortunately I live in Canada. When I called to
subscribe they said they couldn't sign me up and I should contact XM
Canada. So I called them, and they do not offer this service at all,
although they rep thought...

XM Weather for laptops? by

A friend has a laptop that he uses with a GPS moving map. I can't remember
what program he uses, but he would like to be able to overlay weather on his
existing program. Anyone know how to do that?

XM weather de-activation with Garmin 396/496 by
Paul kgyy
I have a PDA-based XM weather process that spontaneously de-activates
periodically (and of course I don't find out until I fire up the
receiver in the airplane).
Are any 396/496 users having this problem?
What about Flight Cheetah users?

XM weather activation question Garmin 3/496 by
Paul kgyy
I have one of the Awmap PDA-based systems that preceded Garmin's
396/496 series and have recurring trouble with the Wx download
de-activating if I don't fly for a month.
This time I can't re-activate at all for some reason.
Have any of you 3/496 owners had a problem with involuntary
de-activation?
