PSA: Don't be rude on the radio by
buttman
I had two recent situations where other pilots thought they'd be cool
by being condescending jackasses over the radio, which effected my
ability to teach my student.
The first time was when I was at a local uncontrolled field with one
of my students to introduce solf-field takeoffs and landings....

Psychological evaluations in other professions by
Steve Sousa
Hello:
Does anyone know of other professions that require psychological
evaluation of "attitude" to weed out overconfident candidates, etc?
Thank you.
Best Regards
Steve Sousa

Psychotropic Drugs Approved by
brian whatcott
FAA has generated a revised policy to permit the use of SINGLE
anti-depressant drug prescriptions for pilots. Suicidal ideation,
multi-drugs, etc., are disqualifying.
This ought to be of particular interest to some users of this group??

PT6 question by
MLenoch
Why do we pull the props back to feather prior to shutting down? I cannot see
any reason for this. This seems a useless procedure on the shutdown checklist.
If the prop levers are left forward upon shutdown, the prop blades will go into
feather when oil pressure drops off. On start up, the...

Public Aerobatics - a Disaster waiting to happen... by
Denny
I have long expressed my opinion that public displays of low level
aerobatics entails risk vastly out of proportion to any benefits,
perceived or real... Aerobatic displays do not improve public support
for general aviation nor for the preservation of local airports...
Aerobatic displays do not...

Public Announcement by

To all current and former AirPlan user's/subscribers
After much careful and difficult deliberation, I have decided to cease
all new sales of AirPlan on my website as of October 1, 2006.

**Shameless Plug Warning**
My fourth aviation article is about to hit the stands. The next "Aviation
Safety" will have a piece I wrote on prop nicks.
You do read "Aviation Safety" don't you? If not, you should.

Puget Sound TFRs reduced in size, turned into National Security Areas by
C J Campbell
The Puget Sound and Hermiston TFRs were rescinded at 11:49 1/9/04 and
replaced with National Security Areas, possibly as a prelude to permanent
publication. Jeppesen Flitestar is still showing the old TFRs, however, and
since the Jepp engine is the one that the FAA and AOPA use on their web
sites I...

Pulse Oximeters by
Dan
I'm thinking about a pulse oximeter. I've seen both Nonin and
CheckMate units for sale, with Checkmate being noticably cheaper.
Anyone have any experience with either? Is there a good reason to pay
more for the Nonin?

Puppy in the Plane? by
Kyle Boatright
Tomorrow (weather pending) or next weekend, we're probably taking the RV-6
to just north of Little Rock Arkansas to look at and probably buy a puppy.
Yeah, I know, there are plenty of puppies locally, but my wife is on a quest
to find a pup with the same bloodline (or at least some of it) as the...

Purchase a Info on Purchasing a Plane and Leasing Back to a School by

I'm training to get my pilots certificate and doing pretty well so far. I'
ve posted a couple of times in this newsgroup in the past few weeks and I've

question at you.

Purchase Questions by
Steve.T
I'm looking at buying into a partnership. The plane is a Piper Lance (6
place, complex single engine).
From you Piper drivers, particularly those who have Lance experience,
is there anything I need to know about? I asked an IA about 6 place
aircraft and he told me that C210s I was looking at tend...

Push to Talk Switch by
Jackal24
I need to get a push to talk switch for the Cessna's I rent now. I have
noticed that they are very expensive for what they are (a switch). Is it
legal to build my own from Radio Shack type parts? If so, does someone have
the specs?

Pushback for small planes by
Mxsmanic
In simulation, I note that I'm apparently expected to have my plane
pushed back from its parking place before I start the engines and
taxi, judging from the way the aircraft are parked (with very little
room to turn around on their own). Are real small aircraft tugged and
pushed back, or do you...

pushing planes by
John Clear
Jay started a discussion recently about pushing planes after seeing
someone push a Cherokee by the elevator.
I was at the Golden West Fly-in at Marysville, CA (MYV) over the
weekend, and after the air race demo, the crew of Dreadnought
(Hawker Sea Fury) grabbed a bunch of spectators to help push...
