A consistent fault is being found in Falcon Altimeters by
Stealth Pilot[_2_]
This really ****es me off because I put one of these in my aircraft on
Tuesday.
the guys locally are finding a consistent manufacturing fault in the
chinese made Falcon Altimeters.
the goss is that the altimeters are actually made internally with the
quality of a swiss watch. I'm told that in all...

alternate engine in Falco by
Jonny[_2_]
There are many aircraft that allow for a variety of engines. Some
engine makers even supply cowling/nose bowl kits for popular types
(Rans, Vans) etc.
So, what do you think of using a Jabiru 5100 (8 cyl) in a Falco in
place of the Lycoming io-360?
Jabiru is narrower and less tall, but is a few...

Kind of OT but interesting. Would this meet ur requirements? It'd sure
'fly low' on 20 HP.
If they can make a vehicle like this why can't they make an equivalent
bird (speed and HP)?

zenith hds/xl by
Ted Leon
From my limited view point, the 601 HDS is a GREAT airplane as advertised.
Is seems just as fast the the
XL, not accounting for altitude, true air speed, etc. OK the stall factor
may be a consideration for some? I guess the LSA situation is the BIG factor
here.
What do you think, Zenith...

Lancair Engine by
[email protected]
I am looking to buy Lancair 360. They seem to come with two different
engines, the A1A at 200hp and the B1B at 180hp. Is the only
difference
seems to be the compression ratio, can you upgrade to the 200hp
easily, and
can I expect a difference in performance (rate of...

Mixing alcohol with gasoline by
[email protected]
Worth repeating. (Originally posted to the AirVW Group)
Alcohol in fuel
Alcohol has a lower BTU value than gasoline. Depending on how much
they are adding to your fuel, you are going to be seeing less power.
Alcohol is hygroscopic; it absorbs moisture and holds it in
suspension, further...

Re the Tango (composite) and RV (metal) an article in July Sport
Aviation (pg 54) addresses Drag Coefficient as a function of
construction process. The multiplier for the Drag Coefficient for
composite is 1.0-1.05 and for flush rivet metal is 1.10. Composite
can reduce drag then by 5 - 10% over a...

castellated socket by
Stuart & Kathryn Fields
My search for a castellated socket ended in a friend made one for me using a
piece of heavy drive shaft tubing. It worked fine. I will be adding a
3-Jaw chuck to my rotary table for future work like this.

HID landing light by

Maybe somebody already brought this up. But I finally found a decent
priced HID light kit and converted my halogen (H3) landing light. Got
a motorcycle conversion kit from eBay for $63 incl/shipping. For more
