Slavery In Aviation by
Bob Dole
If the place where I work is telling me to work hour's for free, what
should I do ?
I am worried that working for free is illegal, immoral, unethical, and
unprofessional, and I am also worried that it exposes me to the possibility
of an IRS audit as I could be accused of getting paid "under the...

Rant about sillying CFI rating and BFR by
Robert M. Gary
Its that time again for me to complain. My CFI is coming up so I'm
going to add a rating to it (CFII). Of course, in the wise eyes of the
FAA this does not count as a BFR because it is not a "pilot
priviledge" but rather an instructor priv. I've gone around and around
with the Sacramento FSDO but...

Twins in clubs.... by
Captain Wubba
Hello. I'm a member of a flying club that is in the process of
purchasing a Cessna 337 (Actually a new member is bringing it in with
his membership). The club manager wants to bring in a twin because he
thinks he can easily get 7 or 8 new members specifically for the twin.
But right now, of the...

Musings on KCDW, ILS, and WAAS by
Andrew Gideon
I fly primarily out of CDW in Northern NJ. Although I'm not "plugged in"
with the various machinations at the airport, there's some trickle down.
Accuracy, of course, is completely suspect. So have a large grain of salt
at the ready.
What I "heard" was that Mac Dan had been hoping for a runway...

JFK by
Big John
40 years ago today I was ferrying a F-89J from the Maine Air Guard at
Bangor, ME to the Oregon Air Guard at Portland OR. Chugging along at
20K, keeping under the big jet stream blowing east, I was about 150
out of Oklahoma City, my next refueling stop, when ATC came up on
frequency and announced...

Canadian Pirep required - St Hubert - CYHU by
Bob Chilcoat
I'm taking the Archer up to Montreal (CYHU) from the NY Metro area (KSMQ)
tomorrow (the holiday traffic should be below me). Any recommendations as
to FBO? According to the little info I can gather, there are four FBO's at
St. Hubert: Montreal Flying Club, Avtech, Max Aviation,...

Recommendations for FBO etc. at BVY (Beverly)? by
Andrew Gideon
I know I've asked before, but I may actually get to go this time.
Has anyone recommendations for FBO etc. at BVY? I'll be staying over a
couple of nights, so being able to tie down for a while is important.
Fuel, friendly, weather for when I leave, etc. are all also factors.
Thanks...
Andrew

This month's issue of NTSB Reporter by
Peter R.
I'm sorry, but I have to admit that I had a laugh when reading this month's
NTSB Reporter. In the "Accident Brief" section that flows to the last page
there was a paragraph about a crash of a Wright Flier. Fortunately the
pilot was not hurt.

Stolen Aircraft by

Just got this in the mail.
A C-172 N738FP Ser.# 17269945 was reported stolen from the El Monte, CA.
Municipal Airport on 11/23/03. If seen call the FBI, local police, or FAA.

Stealth bird by
Big John
Just some ramblings on stealth.
When the Air Defense Command was in high gear with Radars all over the
States and over lapping coverage, we used 'skin paint' (vs beacon/IFF
or transponder) to located and track aircraft (we didn't think the
Russians would come in squawking for us). The FAA always...

OT - How do search engines work? by
Jay Honeck
When I type in "Iowa City Airport" at the Yahoo search screen, our "History
of the Iowa City Airport" webpage pops up second on the list -- which is all
well and fine.
When I type in "Iowa City Hotels" at the Yahoo search screen, however, our
hotel website doesn't appear at all. Well, maybe it's...
