Asiana 777 at SFO by
birdog[_3_]
Full disclosure - I am an 86 year old ex pilot, but my soul is still in
the cockpit. Don't know how pertinent this is, but I got a lot of free
time nowadays.
Back in the late '60's we had a flying club - 3 planes including a 7AC
Champ. An airline pilot temporarily stationed locally joined the...

Aircraft ID? canard biz plane by
Ron Hardin
What might a business-sized aircraft have been, that had both a
canard stabilizer up front and a regular stabilizer in the back,
twin engine, very high pitched (frequency) props, quite fast, that
went over.
I think it was smaller than what I remember as a Beech starship.

You can't buy this publicity by
Bob Fry
Our local airport, University Airport (KEDU) at Davis, California, was
going to be closed 5 years ago. Local pilots formed a group--Friends
of University Airport--to defend the airport. We were successful, and
rather than disband, the group remained to continue promoting the
airport to the...

Electric jets where are You? by
nrepeb
Yes it maybe look strange, but where are electric jets!? Maybe they hidden or something like that... I known that cost of developing engine maybe high, but there are now some electric planes. It's enough to say that 70% of plane ticket on longer distances is for fuel cost. Cheap airlines can throw...

Which airliners have flown supersonic? by
Bruce W
When I was a child, around 1961, I remember airliners making sonic
booms when they flew over, and the windows on our house would rattle.
Of course this is illegal today.
What I can't figure out is what types of airline airplanes flew
supersonic. The Boeing 707 cannot fly supersonic.
Does anyone...

Do they still make ONC/TPC charts? by
Ron Natalie
Peter wrote:
It seems to me these stopped c. 1998...
Actually, they just stopped public paper sales. The stated
reason was they didn't want terrorists to use them. But I
guess they didn't figure that terrorists could either use
old charts or the files in electronic form.

atmospheric density effects on airfoils by

Close-up pictures of knobs/panels? by
GEG
I have a need to get some close-up images
of knobs and/or control panels of aircraft
to create my own rendering of a panel.
I'd like to overlay different knob types to
get a feel of how it will look.
Can anyone point me to a source or have any
help they can offer?

Connection Lightspeed Headset directly to Cassette. by
[email protected]
I have what might be a slightly odd question. I want to be able to
connect a LightSpeed headset to a cassette recorder. The recorder has 2
sockets 1 for headphone, and 1 for microphone. I tried radio shack and
they had no idea how to connect the slightly small of the two
lightspeed plugs. Is this...

RONs - NJ -> OSH by
Michael Bullock
I'm planning on taking my 4 & 6 year olds to their first Oshkosh.
However, I don't think they'll have the stamina or patience to make the
trip from my Central NJ location into OSH in one day. Probably would be
best to fly a few hours and then do some kid-friendly activity for the
rest of the...

Near-miss over Orange County, Calif 6/30 8:08 pm? by
HBYardSale
I saw what looked like a near-miss Monday night (June 30, 8:08 pm PT) above the
city of Huntington Beach and would like to find out which airlines they were.
And I'd like to find out what happened and how far apart they came.
The reason I say "near-miss" was because I first saw a plane climbing,...
