Pirep: SacSkyRanch Oil Filter Can Cutter by
Jim Burns
Mine arrived today and I had 2 filters waiting for it. Short story: It
simply WORKS. No fuss, no muss, no cheap parts, no weak links, no binding,
no huge shipping or handling fees, quick delivery, no problems.
After asking the group's opinions, I crossed off several can cutters that
members...

Survival Gear by
EDR
As long as we are on the topics of putting lists together, Survival
Gear is another topic we haven't covered.
I have three "kits". One that wear, another is a daypack, the third is
a dedicated first aid kit in a lumbar pack.
The one I wear is a fishing vest with immediate essentials stuffed...

DHMO for cleaning off bugs by
Jon Woellhaf
After a short 1.5 hour sightseeing flight today I tried using 100% DHMO to
clean the bugs off the leading edges. It worked surprisingly well. Despite
my precautions, I got a little in my eyes and a lot on my hands and arms,
but I haven't noticed any adverse effects yet.

Twin tachs by
Jim Burns
One of the tachs in our Aztec has been acting kind of flakey, usually
reading too high when above 2100 rpms, (I've checked it several times with
an optical tach) so I've been contemplating our options of replacing both
tachs with a single dual needle tach. This would open up some panel...

with custom markings as acceptable. But since this is for a club
airplane which is billed on Tach, I would like to get an identical
Tach

Differences between Garmin 295 and 196? by
carlos
I'm in the market for a moving-map aviation GPS, and trying to decide
between Garmin's color 295 and their grayscale 196.
The 196 is a newer model, has a better screen and more functions, but the
295 offers a color screen. (Why Garmin doesn't offer a color 196, I don't
understand. They already...

edge of wings. I have some technical questions on the Bush STOL kit. If
someone out there has a Bush STOL kit on a Cessna aircraft...

PA-28-180 Low power query by
[email protected]
Hey all. As some of you may recall, about a year ago I posted a question regarding two different power loss issues I was having
with my PA-28-140 with an O-360-A4A 180hp upgraded engine. I'll summarize what's transpired and figure to get some opinions on what I
might try next.
Basically, I...
