New or reman engine for P210? by
Phil Kellman
Well, the trustworthy engine (TSIO-520P) in my P210 has put in its
1500 hours or so without complaint, and it is time for a new engine.
The choice is a new or factory remanufactured engine. My trusted
Cessna sources in Santa Maria, CA favor a new Continental engine (at
about $37,000), but they are...

Sorry for the delay this year, but extremely busy since returning from
Oshkosh..

This was our first time doing a booth, it was 7 days of terror and fun at
the same time. Our booth had a crowd in front if it constantly from the

Garmin 396 'installation' in the Maule by
Maule Driver
Well, it came yesterday. Great box. Looks like the challenge will be
'mounting' the GXM 30 XM antenna in the Maule.
The thing has a big non-removeable magnet so distance from the compass
is needed. It has an extension cord and mounting screws but needs good
sky exposure... any thoughts are...

fuel leak or auxiliary fuel pump malfunction? by
[email protected]
From time to time pilots have observed fuel stains on the nosewheel
wheelpant of our club's 172SP. The only time I have actually seen fuel
dripping from the engine was when I watched a pilot turn the auxiliary
fuel pump on for what seemed to me to be an excessively long period of
time. The fuel...

2006 Annual -- My 8th Owner Assisted -- Update by
Jay Honeck
Things are moving along.
1. My new tail-to-fuselage fairing has arrived, and my A&P has allowed
as how we can use cherry pop rivets (rather than structural), which
will save a bunch of headache. (Although Mary will still have to get
back into the aft fuselage in order to vacuum up the rivets that...

The current owner lives in NY state and I live in NJ. I know with cars
I would pay sales tax at NJ Motor vehicles when I register and title
the car but how does the process work with Planes? I was told that you

Good first partnership or not? 1/6th Cherokee 140 Share in CA by
noah
Hi r.a.o guys,
Thru a local ad I found a 1/6th share in a 1969 Cherokee 140
(hershey bar wing). I've done some minimal due diligance on it and it
looks, well, like an old 1969 rental. The nose-wheel cowling is pretty
worn (looks like it's been glued several times) and the paint is
original & drab....

Good Electrical shop in NorCal by
Robert M. Gary
I have a strange, intermittent charging problem in my Mooney and am
looking for a good electrical shop. I've changed out the alternator,
battery, regulator, field wire, alternator ground wire and several
other items and I'm still having a charging problem. I'm looking for a
shop that knows how to...

Low oil pressure, high oil temp? by
Roy Smith
This spring, my club bought a 1973 200 HP Arrow with about 500 hours on
the engine. Shortly after we bought it, we had to replace several
cylinders and one piston (I'm not sure of the details of why they needed
to be replaced).
The oil pressure always indicates at the low end of the green...

Engine PreHeater In The Plane by

I am a member of a 3-way partnership in a Cessna 206. We have just
purchased a SureFire preheater. The source is available at:

It uses small camping style propane bottles which are readily available
at Wal-mart or other retailers. They do not...

Selling Aircraft by
Ross
Not sure who is here anymore, but I have been a poster over the years
and learned many things here and also saw some very sad personalities
appear in what would have been good discussions. However, I digress.
Just letting the community know that I have sold my nice IFR Skyhawk
after 12 years of...

Twins vs. Singles - comparisons by
[email protected]
With the current depressed market for twins, it is interesting to
compare something like an SR22 or C210 to a Cessna 310. You can afford
a lot of gas, insurance, and reserve for overhauls; with a $100K+
savings on the initial purchase price. Also, I'd be surprised if there
is much more depreciation...

Plug in voltmeter by
Bob
I'm looking for some advice on a voltmeter (preferably digital) that
will plug into the "cigarette lighter" of my airplane. I found one on
the J. C. Whitney site, but $50 is too much for what I want to use it for.
I've got a JPI analyzer which reads voltages off the avionics bus, and
also a...

Any planes remotely quiet? by
Chris Hoffmann
....and don't say "a glider". :)
Quiet, in terms of how loud it is inside the cockpit.
1. Is there such a thing as a quiet single engine plane? Quiet enough to not
need hearing protection? More quiet than other models, relatively speaking?
2. Is there really ANY GA plane that is?
3. Are...
