Flight planning at the lower flight levels by
Peter R.
When IFR flight planning at the lower flight levels (FL190 - FL230) in the
US (single engine, turbo-piston), is it reasonable to plan and expect GPS
direct to a destination?

'73 Piper Charger by
Kobra
Flyers,
A friend of mine is an executor of an estate that is selling a pristine 1973
Piper Charger (PA28-235) for sale if anyone is thinking of buying. It has
a great useful load of 809 lbs. with full fuel or 1013 lbs. if you leave the
auxiliary tanks empty. Contact me for photos if...

Requirements for Antique Aircraft by
EDR
This is a follow up to the Ramp Checked thread...
If you fly an antique aircraft, the manufacturer did not provide a POH
or Aircraft Manual.
What am I supposed to use?

making the transition from renter to owner part 2 (long) by
Journeyman
The weather was a huge question mark for pretty much the entire flight
home. My plan A of course was to fly back the next day (Tuesday, the
30th). Plan B was to fly home commercially, leaving the airplane for
about a month until weather is more stable and I had less expected
schedule...

Airport guides on video? by
Philip Sondericker
Does anyone know of any videos that provide overviews of airports--kind of
an "AFD on video" type of thing? Anything that's broken down by region?
Thanks.

Opening up a turn coordinator by
Robert M. Gary
I just bought a Brittan turn coordinator off a Bonanza on ebay. I'm
curious how to open it up so I can see the gyro, et. al. I took the
back off but that only gained me access to some capacitors on the
back. I tried to take the face apart but that didn't seem to be the
way to do it. How can I open...

Fort Bragg whale festival by
Robert M. Gary
My wife was asking about this festival. Is anyone here flying out
there? Do you fly into Little River? How do you get into town, rent,
taxi ,etc? Does it make sense for a day or do you need to spend the
night?

It was last November, when I picked up Bert "under the Beaver" at the south

HP tr3000 by
C J Campbell
I see HP has introduced the HP Compaq tr3000 (apparently named after a
breadmaking machine). It is supposed to be a 'rugged' tablet PC, capable of
being left out in the rain, dropped from three feet, etc., and generally
exceeding milspec standards for hardiness. The 8" screen is supposed to...

What's high TT for a Lyc 235? by
Paul Folbrecht
My engine has 1200 SMOA and 4500 TT. I can find very little regarding
the relevance of total time. Maybe it's close to irrelevant since a MO
touches everything anyway. Lyc even zero-times their remans, of course,
even they are obviously not truly 0 TT. Just curious about the subject
of engine...

FSS vs. automation by

I've been planning a little weekend getaway for self, wife, and son for a
while now. I've a club airplane lined up, I've paid off the weather gods,
and I've arranged for someone to feed the cats.
I've also been playing with Aeroplanner just for fun (I've not yet decided
if it's a keeper, but I've...

It's time again to tell Highflyer we're coming and make the annual descent upon
