Electriflying by
Gatt
A few years ago when people were discussing the possibility of
electric-powered flight, you'd get hacked on pretty hard for
suggesting such a thing would be practical or possible in our
lifetime. Obviously if you knew anything about physics or electrical
engineering, why, you'd know it was totally...

Dizziness disorientation by
New Pilot
Hi folks,
Does anyone have any experience of the following or know about it.
I recently got a ppl licence and generally are fine doing all the
flying type tasks required to safely take off fly and land.
One thing that seems to get me every time is if I am for example
flying straight and level at...

FAA throws pilots under the Airbus by
Jim Logajan
FAA doesn't bother with suspension - goes straight for the revocation:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/28/us/28plane.html
Pretty harsh for pilots who don't appear to have had any other blemish on
their lengthy records.
Revocation would seem to be appropriate for actions that are deliberately...

How high can I get? by
Mark
Ok, it's the year 2025. If man is still alive.
You are in a little Cessna 150.
You're plane isn't pressurized because it will implode,
so you're wearing a pressurized body suit. You have
an oxygen mask. You plane is powered by a very
powerful hydrogen atom splitting energy source.
Supplied by a...

You will be getting a visit tommorow.
You messed up big time.
Maybe you should've figured out that an imposter

that resulted in actual physical injuries to
someone innocent.

Am I too old to fly? by

I was thinking about taking up flying, but
not sure if I'm too old. I'm 62. Is this a bad
idea or should I go for it?

How come the wings bank when I use the rudder by
Paul kgyy
On a 3 hour cross country today I was amusing myself by flying with
rudder pedals only (all right, OK, a little yoke usage to maintain
altitude). But then I got to wondering why applying rudder pressure
causes the plane to bank. All I could think of was that rudder usage
produces asymmetric lift...

Is it just me that thinks this was stupid by
Bravo Two Zero
A small plane crashed into Lake Pleasant, just outside of Phoenix, at approx
8pm Friday, while the pilot was reportedly talking on his cellphone and
flying 10 feet above the water.
According to thr FAA, the pilot was talking on a cellphone to a friend in a
boat below and asked the friend to...

Downloading flying music? by
Jay Honeck
We've got the PS Engineering CD/Intercom in our plane, and listen to CDs on
long trips.
I am obviously slipping into "dinosaur" status, as I have never downloaded
music, for "burning" onto a blank CD. I *have* burned CDs, but I've always
done it from tracks played off of another CD.
Does anyone...

Why fly fast approaches? by
EDR
I did my BFR last month in a PA28-181. It is an airplane new to the
flying club I belong to and although I have more than 60 hours in type,
the owner requires anyone who desires to rent it, have an instructor
checkout.
Prior to the flight I calculated a weight and balance and appropriate
speeds...

Speed monitored by aircraft???? by
Jim Buckridge
I saw one of these signs along I-78 in NJ. Now, I find it
***REALLY*** hard to believe that this particular sign is true. The
highway is congested and with radar guns and all, monitoring speed by
aircraft (copter maybe?) seems expensive and unnecessary.
I know I've seen these signs elsewhere -...
