Fast forward to the futu WAAS 200 minimums by
scott moore
Now that the WAAS minimums are going to be 200, same as
ILS, and the first WAAS approaches are going to be
overlaid over standard ILS approaches, the question
arises:
Which approach makes more sense to an ILS runway, use
of the ILS, or the WAAS?
Before you say "good ole ILS", consider: WAAS is...

Government/Jepp Plate Comparison by
rps
I've been away from flying for a while. I stopped flying at around the
time the government plates were rumored to be changing to a new format.
I used to use Jepps.
I picked up flying again recently. The pilot's store I went to was out
of the Jepp express packs, so I decided to give the...

Question re CNX-80 by
ROBIN FLY
Aviation Consumers in their review said that CNX-80 could be certified with its
built-in CDI. Is it true?
If it is true, does its built-in CDI provide G/S or VNAV indication?

Dreaming STARS by
[email protected]
Was I dreaming? Or did I once hear that RNP 1 and 2 stars/sids had
been published in the USA? I see type A and B, but these are RNAV,
and so must have no RNP requirement whatsoever, and can be flown by
any /G aircraft. Anyone provide some info?

Search & Rescue GPS by
[email protected]
Hi Folks,
Hope someone here can help.
We have a helicopter that we want to be able to fly very accurately
search patterns, like creeping line, expanding box etc.
I cant find a GPS on the market that supports this natively, though in
theory it wouldnt be hard to generate a GPX file with the...

Tach Hours Recording INOP by
Mitty
Anybody know whether this is an airworthiness issue? I was flying CAP cadets
today and discovered the problem. We have a kid taking a private ride on Monday
and would not like to switch airplanes on him.
Obviously it's not on the required VFR equipment list, but since without it you
no longer...

430W/When does the glideslope register by
scott moore
Keep in mind I tried out my new 430W install for
the first time today.
I tried a few sample approaches, really outstanding.
The 430W makes you want to try full (not vectored)
approaches because it essentially automates everything.
It will hold on the approach hold, start the approach
on its own...

Questtions about ATC-Fligtplan by
Daniel Hofer
Hello
I have some questions about the ATC-flightplan and how to fill it out.
1. Field 10, standard equipment
ILS means localizer AND glideslope, right?
DME is not part of standard equipment, right?
2. Field 10
R means RNP. Do I need to write e.g. R5 for RNP5? Or is no value needed? (is

Full flap ILS by
[email protected]
I flew safety for a friend in his Bonanza A36 w/ IO-550 yesterday. He
hand flew a perfect ILS, but it was with full flap and gears down at
around 22 in power. In my E35 Bonanza with E225 engine and low flap
and gear speeds, I almost always fly ILS with flap up, gears down at
around 17 in power. ...

Rolling a Non Aerobat 150 by

I have to ask why you feel it's
reasonable to turn this guy in to the FSDO but not to copy license
plate numbers of speeders and turn them in.
I didn't make the post, but I do have some reasons.
Way back when... when I was learning to fly and learning how the regs
worked, it was made clear...

OT Lightning video by

Good time for admiring the skies when we shouldn't fly anyway.
My second attempt at putting together a video of lightning I took at
my house. Mother nature was very cooperative as I had a cell
approximately 5 miles to my west "strutting 'er stuff" with at minimum
1 Cloud to Cloud every 2 seconds...
