A different way to add filler (OA) by mhorowit
In another thread, someone suggested Elza's "Aircraft Welding" as a good read. I got it from Lindsey Publications and am finding it very helpful. There is a section in the back devoted to step-by-step exercises in learning different OA procedures/welds. The book was apparently designed for students...

A Falco's wing by Lou
Can anyone tell me what covering is used on a Falco? I'm pretty sure it's plywood, but is it 100% plywood? Anyone know how thick? Also, is there anything over the plywood like dacron or fiberglass? Lou

A few thoughts on "Aircraft Engines" vs. the regular kind. by Bret Ludwig
1. I love the people who say they can buy an Aircraft Engine for some small amount of money and bolt it on and go flying. What they mean is that after decades of search they managed to flam some widow out of an engine for a tenth market price, they bought some oddball no one wants, or they have an...

A friend of mine is building a Legacy and has a question.... by John Ammeter
Hey, ask anyone on the rec homebuilt group if they've ever built any Lancairs and then ask them if they used a 1 degree toe-in on the main landing gear for the 320, the Lancair 4 or the Legacy. I test drove mine today and almost lost control of it in yaw on the runway because it's dead nuts on...

A Good Story by Badwater Bill
Another one of those things I get from docents out at PASM. Don't know if true, but certainly sounds like it. If not, a good yarn anyway. Piggyback Hero by Ralph Kinney Bennett Tomorrow morning they'll lay the remains of Glenn Rojohn to rest in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery in the little town...

A loss for the community by Dave S
Paul Connor, a builder from Mobile, Alabama, was killed this weekend after a loss of power in his Rotary Engine powered SQ-2000 canard aircraft. Paul was as active participant in several online forums, but I must admit not this one. He had owned 7 airplanes over his 30 years of flying experience....

A P-47 just flew over by Bill Daniels
I was in the back yard working on my bird when I heard a soft but very unusual sound overhead. Looking up for the sound, there was a silver P-47 at very low power descending for a pattern entry at Centennial Airport, Colorado. (APA) I don't know what is going on but that was a very nice airplane...

A Post-Christmas Shopping Hint by Ron Wanttaja
Department stores like Penney's, Macy's, etc. tend to get in small tool kits for sale as gifts at Christmas. After Christmas, these go on sale for half-price or less. Now, the tool quality of these kits is generally very low. However, one item they often sell is a small battery-powered...
