Argus 5000CE question by
Francois Marquis
Hello,
Has anyone have first hand experience with both the Argus 5000 and Argus
5000ce. I know a lot of users have transitioned to the CE, but
functionality-wise they are about the same. (minus the color, of course)
My biggest issue is that I sometime deplore the contrast of my 5000
unit,...

T-34's Grounded by
Juan Jimenez
The FAA has just issued an emergency AD that appears to ground _all_ Beech
T-34 aircraft, all models, until further notice, after confirming that the
Texas Air Aces T-34 that went down a few days ago suffered a wing
separation. It only allows a few hours of flight under very strict
restrictions to...

Oil, Oil, Oil by
OSKI 3
All the experts I read on this board are either for or against Synthetics or
Semi Synthetics. But most seem to take as Gospel the words of a Guy
(Mechanic or FBO) who makes a LOT of money from fixing your Engines.
Do you think po poing a product is based on good will or business sense?
I would...

Cherokee Heater Controls? by
Bob Chilcoat
Our 74 Archer has the standard two-lever horizontal quadrant for heater and
defroster control. The last time I flew it, the heater was stuck on.
Moving the lever had no effect. Our feet were actually hurting it was so
hot. The defroster valve seems to work fine.
Yesterday, I took the little...

Ethanol by
Dave
Where is it dictated that certain states/cities require ethanol in their
auto fuel?
I've been to the EPA website and get 1000 hits on ethanol, but none
which show me the requirements.
Thanks
Dave

KLN89B manual by
TNap
I am in need of original manufacture's user manuals for the KLN89B.
The manufacturer no longer produces the spiral bound manual that
is required to be in the aircraft. Reproductions of the manual from
the PDF document are not an acceptable substitute for the manual
that must be carried in the...

Garmin 396 by
Doug
Does anyone know what I would have to do to make a 396 go from an
aviation unit to a car unit? Could I just take it out of the plane,
push a few buttons and put it in the car and get turn by turn car
navigation instructions? How does the car stuff work? Does it have all
the resturants and stuff. Or...

Carb Rebuild -- Suggestions for where to go by
zatatime
I need to get my carb rebuilt. It's a Marvel MA4-5 off an O-540.
Somehow it floods to the point of not running (longer story possibly
in another post). I'd like to find out why this is happening so that
besides just getting an overhaul I actually know it won't flood again.
I don't care if it...

Long time reader selling plane by
Doug
I started reading these aviation newgroups in 1999 when I learned to
fly. I bought my Husky and have put over 2000 hours on it in 5 1/2
years. It is time for me to move on to other pursuits (I am playing my
guitar and involved in some other great activities). I don't really
know if I will continue...

Wax by
zatatime
What type of wax do you use on your airplane? I'd like to stay away
from the standard "carnuba" type waxes because its a royal pain to
buff around all the rivets (its a Cherokee). Any one step polishes
out there that don't require the second buffing step?
This plane has not been waxed in at...

Hi,
A colleague is looking for a tug, perhaps an electric one, capable of
towing the aircraft (a TB20) by the first wheel a distance of about 50
yards.

CHT recommendations by
Dude
I had an odd thought while flying yesterday.
Traditionally, we have had CHT info on one cylinder. Now, many planes have
monitors that tell us all 4 or 6 cylinders.
I have been trying to keep all my cylinders under 400 as I believe most of
us are doing. However, I had a thought about that...

Checking O-360-A4A Vernatherm by
Mike Noel
I decided to check the vernatherm on my Archer's engine because it is
running on the high end of the green during summer flights. I had already
checked the sending unit and guage and found it to be OK. I then removed a
1" hex cap from the top left of the oil filter adapter on the accessory
case. ...

FAR Reference - Self Fueling by
Ben Smith
I was just reading both the land lease, and hangar keeper agreements for the
now City owned Morey Airport. (C29), and they both state:
"The Lessee further agrees not to transport, or cause to be transported,
onto airport premises, gasoline or other flammable fluids for the purpose of
self-fueling...

Rogue's Gallery Split 3 Ways! by

Due to the popularity of our Rec.Aviation "Rogue's Gallery" of participant's
airplanes, the page has grown to the point where it was loading slowly --
especially with a dial-up connection.
Check it out now -- it should load lightning fast!

Transponder Problem by
Jay Honeck
The third digit on my formerly bullet-proof Narco AT-50 transponder has
suddenly started displaying incorrectly for ATC. Specifically, it seems to
be showing as a "4" on their screens, regardless of what we dial it to in
the plane. Thus, instead of squawking "1200" when we're VFR, we're
squawking...

When Weather Diverts You. . . by
Patty
It's part of flying, and there's nothing you can do about it. . .
perhaps.
You're trying to get to your destination, or maybe you're trying to
get home. You look at the weather and no matter how you plot out your
time, direction of flight, and other options, you're staying put!
Blessing or...
