(RST Engineering, Please read!) "The Muse" by
H.P.
In other words, the volume of the music audio has to
be fairly high, or the Muse will cut out during softer parts of a song.
The audio output device needs a compression circuit to keep audio levels
more near a constant output. There are portable cd players out there that
have such a...

No Gyro and ILS approach with ATC COMS - Video by
A Lieberma[_2_]
I did two approaches today, each in separate videos.
First one is an ILS approach into HKS Jackson Hawkins airport in VMC
conditions. Purpose of this approach was to "warm up" for my next
approach which was a no gyro approach into KJAN Jackson MS.
Both videos contain ATC communications as well...

Engine Recomendations by
f
Today was not a good day for the Baron. While replacing a cylinder I found
a crack (confirmed with Dye Pent) off the #5 cylinder leading up towards the
case halves.
The engine has 2750 Hr since new and about 1000 Hr since a TW Smith
overhaul. The case is repairable, but it seems like a waste...

Oshkosh 2003 photo's are up by
Jay Honeck
If anyone cares to see a few hundred Oshkosh photo's, I put them on my
site..
Great pix, Dennis!
Did you get any aerial shots of the North 40 that you didn't post? I'd sure
like one of our campsite!

Randolph Paints by
G.R. Patterson III
I just had to order some Rand-O-Fill for a fabric repair. Had a lot of trouble
finding it - Aircraft Spruce is out of stock and doesn't expect to get any until
mid-May.
I finally found a place in Texas that has a few quarts. They told me that Randolph
is being acquired by new owners and is not...

Beat up / worn out Arrow valuation by
Chuck
Hi everyone,
I thought I'd throw this out for discussion and see what comes from
some of the experienced people on the list.
I'm helping out some at a local school. The owner of the school is a
REAL penny pincher. He scrimps and saves anywhere he can. He'd reuse
oil if he could (he already...

WX-950 installation by
Kyprianos Biris
We just ordered a BFGoodrich WX-950 stormscope for our TB-20
Has anyone had any bad experiences with installation of this stormscope ?
Anything tricky we should pay attention to ?
It comes with a 6ft antenna cable. There is another one 25ft long that comes
as extra.
What is the best way to...

Opinions on 1981 172P - First Airplane by
[email protected]
I know everyone has an opinion... and I'd like to hear some of them!
I'm a first time buyer, and I've come across a 172P for sale at a
local airport. Its a 1981, 4000TTAF, 1700SMOH. No GPS, standard
avionics (digital radios, 720CH, ADF, Audio Panel, Xpndr) No damage
history and a current annual...

What determines sale location? (sales/use taxes) by
Douglas Paterson
I'm sure the experienced buyers & sellers around here have run into this
before....
One prospective plane I'm looking at is for sale in Connecticut (currently
based there). The current ownership is in a Delaware LLC (of a sole
proprietor, who is flying/basing the plane out of CT). Connecticut...

Generators, redundancy, and old stories by
Michael
Many people have asked me why I have generators on my airplane rather
than converting to alternators. My airplane is a PA-30. The only
legal alternator conversion is the InterAv STC. This is a
non-redundant conversion - the alternators used require power to the
field and the regulators use...

Which airplane? by
Ghazan Haider
I've been browsing various aircraft for ownership and cant decide. It
must easily carry 2 people with some baggage at least 600km at the
minimum cost. IFR is preferable. Engine OH costs should be minimal.
Speed/looks/noise are non-issues. Must be all-metal however.
I've seen the zenith kit...

Door seal, inflateable or no? by
Jim Burns
Our Aztec's door seal needs replacing. I'm wondering how many people go the
inflatable route and what their experience has been. Would you do it again?
Does it block noise and air better than the standard seal? Does it push the
door away from the frame or cause too much pressure against the...

Pirep request: FlightPrep vs 396 by

I've seen plenty of pireps on the Garmin 396, but is anybody using the
FlightPrep software with the Motion Computing tablet and XM
Weather/GPS/Electronic Flightbag options??
Also, is there any software/hardware combination when using a laptop or
tablet that can take advantage of the XM Radio...

Aircraft Tugs by
[email protected]
I recently became a first time aircraft owner and I'm quickly realizing
that with the uneven pavement on the ramp to my hanger, and the 2600lb
empty weight of the plane, I'm going to have to resign to getting some
form of aircraft tug.
Looking at the Sporty's catalog, there are two types listed,...

Tossing factory EGT, replacing with JPI or similar by
Ben Jackson
I understand that if I had a CHT, and it had a redline (I don't have one
at all, probably because the PA-24 doesn't have cowl flaps) I would need
to keep my CHT or get something certified to be a primary CHT.
Are there any rules regarding EGT? The one I have is pretty useless. It's
an analog...
