3 ILS approaches, one VOR Alpha approach 700 foot ceilings - Video by
A Lieberma[_2_]
Probably one for AOPA..... Hopefully those that get avionic upgrades
that include their nav take this posting to heart....
What happened to me could have turned quite ugly, and fortunately
things worked out OK since I am here to post this.
Did some ILS approaches over HKS. Perfect day for...

Piper PA-28 question by
GE
I recently purchased a 1973 Cherokee Charger. So far, I am really enjoying
the aircraft, but I have a question that has gone unanswered. There is no
mention of it in the POH or the information manual that I have.
Beneath the throttle quadrant but above the fuel selector (on the right
side), there...

Engine Replacement Labor costs.... by
[email protected]
Looking at something like a 182,
What does it cost to have the A+P Remove and replace the engine/prop?
It's easy to find overhaul costs in Trade a plane etc...., but how much more
does the shop labor add? (Assuming that not much else is wrong with the aircraft?)

Troubleshooting the Comanche fuel system by
Thomas
I was flying a friend to an airport some 200 miles away where he’d had
some work done on his Mooney. I have a 1966 PA-24-260 with two main tanks,
two aux tanks and two tip tanks. About 5-10 minutes after I had leveled
off at 5500 feet and switched to the left aux tank, the engine started
acting...

The Joys of Aircraft Ownership 1,532 & 1,533 by
Brock Boss
Last Saturday my brother/co-owner and I had planned on taking our
fresh-out-of-annual 172 up for a good workout at our home base in
Lincoln, IL (Logan County - KAAA). I'm a 14 hour student pilot on
hiatus. I got sick of paying to fly in other people's airplanes. My
brother, Brad, got his ticket in...

PA32-260 Auto Fuel STC by
Bruce McFadden
Does anyone know if there is an STC for use of auto fuel in a PA32-260.
I've been unable to find one. At $3.30/gal for avgas at KBHM I've got
to stop the bleeding a bit.
Thanks in advance.

Mfg Data Plate Question by
Carl Orton
I'm looking at a certificated aircraft for purchase.
One thing I noticed was that the "normal" engraved metal manufacturer's data
plate that's usually located under the horizontal stabilizer is missing. In
its place is an engraved plastic plate with the serial number, model number,
etc - the kind...

Should a W&B list gross weight? by
Andrew Gideon
Some work was done on an airplane. The new W&B is of the "removed/added"
sort and computes a new empty weight and moment arm. But the document
doesn't state the gross weight.
The changes were all avionics; no airframe or power plant work was done. So
I'd expect the gross weight to remain...

Shinn brake linings - bonding vice riveting by
Michael Horowitz
Apparently the preferred way to bond brake linings in Shinn brakes is
to use rivets. I got my a/c with the linings epoxied(?)in place.
1. Is one fastening method prefered over the other?
2. Can I use heat to remove the current linings?
3. Any particular epoxy to use? Any danger of the lining...

crazy talk - 320 into a 360 application? by

I'm in a position where I can't afford another (2) 360's
for my twin - someone suggested putting 320's in to "apache-ize" it
until I have more scratch...is this just crazy talk?
People Up to 360's from 320 all the time, but I never heard of
going down to them before - is it: legal, moral,...

Foolish Buyer Tricks by
Kyle Boatright
The foolish buyer trick I've seen more often than others is the "It comes
with a fresh annual, I don't need a pre-purchase inspection." approach to
airplane buying.
Aargh.
We had an estate auction in this area recently where 4 vintage aircraft were
sold. Unfortunately (for the buyers), the...

calendar TBO by
Dan Luke
One finds many 20+ year old aircraft advertised with engine time =
airframe time, both in the neighborhood of 1000-1600 hours. Now, it is
my undersatanding that aircraft engines have a calendar TBO as well as a
tach TBO. however, prices for these aircraft do not seem to reflect
engines that are...
