Another expensive annual this year by
[email protected]
Our first annual last year increased our plane ownership cost by 50%
(engine overhaul, prop governor overhaul + few other big ticket
replacement parts + labor). When Rick and I tallied up all the things
we want our AP to do this year, it looked like we have to reach deep
into our pockets...

Getting a little sick of it all by
MRQB
I am getting sick and tired of rude, arrogant, sellers funny thing I just
had a guy refuse to let my mechanic do a pre buy said he could not trust my
mechanic to give an honest opinion and that if I cannot decide for my self
if I wanted it or not then I don't need an airplane and don't need to be...

C172N Eats Landing lights for breakfast by
[email protected]
My friend owns a 77 172N. Eats Landing lights. A real pain to change
with the cowling.
I recently read in an old copy of Aviation Consumer Buyers guide that
some of the N models are known to do this and that there's a Landing
Light Improvement Kit from Cessna.
I could not find one online
Does...

Aircraft Clock Service by

I am a watchmaker in Baltimore who specializes in mechanical aircraft clocks
for collectors. It dawned on me that I could do something useful and make
my services known to owners and restorers of vintage aircraft. While I can
arrange to have clocks needing certification (non-experimental...

Lowrance 2000C by
texas slacker
Progress Report: I have had this unit for about 2 years, replacing
a Garmin portable that I had for about 12 years. The Lowrance was
cheaper.
The unit developed a problem in the first 3-4 months, I called
Lowrance, (tolerable wait on the phone) confirmed the problem and
shipped it back to...

Philosophical question on owning & IFR rating by
TTA Cherokee Driver
I'm a 160-hour PPL and a club member. My club is great and economical,
but availability and flexibility are becoming big drawbacks, so I'm
toying with the idea of buying a plane.
It's hard to justify on strictly financial terms because the club is
such a good deal, but how many times can you...

Replacement AW certificate by

The airworthiness certificate has disappeared from my airplane.
How do I get a replacement? FAA.gov give instructions for lost
registration but not for airworthiness.

Fuel dip stick for C182 w/long-range tanks? by
Mark Hansen
The club to which I belong has a 1978 Cessna R182 RG Skylane.
This airplane has the long-range tanks (80 gallons total, 75
gallons usable - both tanks).
I'm looking for a fuel dip stick that can be used with this
airplane. I found the following J-Air FuelHawk at My Pilot Sto

Wierd vibration -- Prop or engine, balance or not??? by
Chuck
Hi guys & gals,
I purchased an older Cherokee 180 with a Lycoming O-360A4A and
Sensitech propeller. Unfortunately, I'm not sure on of the prop model
as I haven't pulled the cone yet.
Since I purchased my Cherokee, there has been a slight vibration in it
while running and flying. The first...

Skyhawk vs. Mooney by
Grant[_2_]
I was simply wondering if someone could break down the cost difference
of a 172 and M20. Obviously maintenance on a mooney is going to be a
little more and the fuel burn is a gallon or so more, so just some
thoughts.

Ceconite Wings Question by
Captain Wubba
Hello. I'm considering purchasing a plane that has Ceconite wings.
They were recovered last year professionally, and according to an A&P
I asked to have a quick look, were done well and correctly, and have a
UV protectant. My question is the following: I don't have access to a
hanger. This plane...

TKM 170 as a replacement radio by
Ian Taylor
All,
I am looking to upgrade the avionics in my '78 Mooney 201. I am going to
swap out the KY196 and KNS 80 for a Garmin 430 which will drive the KCS-55A
HSI, which leaves me with a KX175B driving a KI-204 as a backup ILS/NAV/COM.
It would be nice to have a "flip-flop" option over there, and...

I Want My Own Bird by

I really want to make a good decision on this so, I'm giving myself plenty
of time, two years, to get my ducks lined up. I've want either an Archer or
an Arrow with an IFR package.
I've started looking at and pricing hanger space at selected airports in the
Houston area where it'll be based. ...

Avgas Coming Down? by
Jon Kraus
Here in Indianapolis I have seen Mogas go down from $3.20 a gallon to
$2.50 and it appears that it will keep on dropping.
On the other hand at my home base I just filled up for a trip and still
are paying $4.50 a gallon. Has anyone noticed if Avgas is coming down
too? Maybe it has to do with...
