ECI vs. Millenium vs. Continental cylinders by
Cooper Randy
I've read through the archives.... but would still like to hear a few more
real world experiences before I spend $7-8K on a set of IO-520 cylinders.
Anybody out there have enough hours on an overhaul using new ECI Cermi-Nil
cylinders to write home about? How about Milleniums? I'm...

KX-155 repair history by
Dave Butler
We're having some problems with our KX-155 where it intermittently stops
navigating. Several attempts at repair have failed. A friend has a KX-155 that
won't transmit. Another friend had a series of repairs on his KX-155.
The conventional wisdom seems to be that the KX-155 is the gold standard...

Legal to Rent Yak-52? by
W[_3_]
Is it legal for a sport or commercial pilot in the US to rent a Yak-52
aerobatic plane for unassisted flight cross country? I guess these can
only be certified currently for exhibition/airshow. Is that likely to
change given they are still manufactured in Romania?

FAA Medical and pilots with Sleep Apnea by
Chuck
Hi everyone,
I've run into a problem with renewing my medical because of a
diagnosis of Sleep Apnea. It didn't cause me to fail my medical, but
I didn't pass either.
Since the AME had never run into a pilot with Sleep Apnea before, he
wound up calling Oklahoma and talking to the FAA. The FAA...

Vref vs NAAA evaluator by
GE
I'm a new pilot looking for my first bird. I'm mostly looking at TAP,
Controller, and ASO. Whenever I find a plane that meets my needs, I am
finding a huge disparity in the values returned by AOPA's Vref and TAP's
NAAA evaluator. I have read in this newsgroup that Vref runs about 10% high,
but I'm...

This is a bit long winded but I'm looking for qualified opinions as to what
might have happed to an almost total loss of power while in cruise flight in
my Mooney M20F. Here is the story of what happened:
I was flying from Turlock (south of Modesto) to Petaluma (north of San
Francisco) on a...

Airplane for mobility impaired passenger by
Sam940
My mission will be 50% of the time just my wife and I cross country and 50% with our two best friends, one of which is mobility impaired. Would any of you be able to recommend an airplane that would have an easy entrance and exit for rear seat passengers? It would not be possible for her to climb...

others know how they turned out incase anyone is thinking of upgrading
theirs.
I had the PS Engineering 7000b audio panel and the PXE7300 AM/FM/CD
player.

Do I need DME or ADF in an IFR-certified GPS panel? by
No Spam
Looking for thoughts out there...
If I have an IFR-certified GPS (terminal, not just enroute), is there any
reason to keep a DME or ADF in the panel? (Other than being able to listen
to am radio or tracking "non-offical" navaids - e.g., am radio stations!)
TIA,

The B/K KAP 140 autopilot in my 2006 Cessna T-182T has a problem that is

Blow out static port by
[email protected]
Hi group,
There are larve in my static ports again.
The problem is that I do not have compressed air to blow them out.
I was thinking about using CO2 cartridges like they use for emergency
tire repairs. Or maybe a bicycle pump will do the job.
My concern is the max pressure I can use before I...
