ADF static? question by
JFLEISC
My friend has an ADF in his C-180 with the type of antenna that goes from the
windshield to the tail.
Says it works fine on the ground during taxi and runup but gets nothing but
static (over the phones and needle won't "track") about 3 to 5 minutes into
flight. Happens every time. There are no...

adjustable prop bearing by
Joe
For all you prop gurus out there...
A ran across this drawing and something struck me as odd... why is the
prop blade only being held in with one bearing? Wouldn't it want to
rotate about this bearing slightly and put a lot of force on the pitch
change mechanism?
Or in other words, why isn't the...

Adjustable seats by
Evan Carew
I am finishing up my KIS Tr-1 aircraft & am curious if anyone out there
has experimented with adjustable seats in their aircraft. I have heard
that you can get such hardware from auto parts manufacturers, but I
don't know how to evaluate them, or how to specify what might be needed.
Any help or...

ADJUSTING VW VALVES -- AGAIN by
[email protected]
I get a LOT of mail about adjusting the lash on Volkswagen valves, and
much of that mail comes from folks who are FLYING behind a converted
VW engine, making it a valid topic for this Newsgroup.
The basic message is that for an in-service engine you DO NOT use the
adjustment procedure shown in the...

Adjustment of Altimeter by
Ron
Seems as if I remember when calibrating the altimeter there is a small
screw next to the adjustment knob that covered a mechanism allowing
one to adjust the hands relative to the barometric pressure. Does
anyone know where I can find instructions on this. I have searched the
Internet but am yet to...

Adventure Air Amphibian accident by

A close friend of mine died in an Adventure Air amphibian crash at
North Central airport in RI. The accident date was Oct 29, 2004.
After spending close to 11 years building it, he perished on his third
flight in just over a week of testing it.
Myself, and many others, in my local EAA chapter...

advice for kit by
[email protected]
Hello,
I was hoping to get some thoughts/opinions on purchasing a complete
Glasair III kit that has been sitting untouched in it's original crate
for 10 years. Never been opened or inventoried.
Is this a bad idea? I'm worried about things like delicate composite
parts which through the years may...

Advice on flying Pitts with Haigh Locking Tailwheel by
Ditch
Hey all,
Here's the deal. I am going to be ferrying a Pitts S-1S from Florida to New
York next week. This airplane is equipped with a Haigh locking tailwheel. I
have about 800 hours in various models of Pitts (S-2A, S-2B, S-1C and S-1S) but
have never flown one with a locking tailwheel. I have...

Advice on Ford V-8 Engine Thought by
Holger Stephan
Björn Flodén and his wife built one of the first BD-4s back in the 70s. When
they moved to Colorado he wanted more power and installed a Ford V-8. He
never got it in the air, though, as he passed away before completion. His
daughter wants to sell his project now. While the BD-4 builders help...

would like to...

Hey all,
I'm planning on starting to build a molded kit in the summer and in

I went to the EAA sportair workshop which was awesome but it primarily

Advice, please: too old to fly? by

There can be no better source of advice than this group for my question: am
I too old to take up flying--and building an airplane?
Full disclosure. As a young man in the Korean War I was an aviation
machinist's mate in the Navy. As a forestry student in the late '50's I was
a smokejumper, so I...
