Slip (balance) and Turn indicator by
mikeaaron353
I am not an aviator, but I have what hopefully is not a stupid question.
I am a restoring a '80 Triumph Spitfire roadster and would like to add a Supermarine Spitfire gauge to the dash. I found a Slip (balance) and Turn indicator in ebay, but not knowing enough about them I was wondering if it...

FS: Soft Comm ATC-4Y 4 place portable intercom, $75.00
Hands-Free Transmission with Voice Activated (VOX) Circuitry PREVENTS
"word-clipping". Exclusive "Y" Block allows either the pilot or
co-pilot to transmit through the intercom. A back-up combination

ADC intercept calculation... by
dtvonly
Hi.
Given:
MH=315, MB=190
calculate the approximate heading to intercept the 180 bearing TO the station.
The answer is 220. I don't know how to arrive at this answer.
MH+RB=MB did not help.

747 weight distribution by
Robin
Hello, this is an odd question of curiosity from an amateur: Two days
ago I was flying from Dulles to LHR on a United 747-400. The aircraft
taxied to the end of the runway, then the pilot announced there was a
problem with the weight distribution on the aircraft wings, and we
would have to move...

looking for model aircraft for teaching ground school purposes by
Sylvain
am still working towards becoming a CFI, putting together
lesson plans and all that sort of things;
I have been looking for a model aircraft that would be
suitable for teaching ground school; i.e., ideally,
should look like a GA aircraft, may be moving surfaces
(i.e., ailerons, elevator,...

Asiana 777 at SFO by
Panic[_4_]
Hmmm. It’s way too early to know what caused the SFO crash on 28L today.
But..I suspect (ILS was out on 28L) that he got way too low too soon, got
within 50’ of the surface, had autothrottles on which pulled the throttles
to idle and the pilot let that happen but rotated to get to the...

Are sectional paths correct across "long" distances? by
vincent p. norris
No. Straight lines on Lambert Conformal maps are not great circles.
It's my understanding that the Lambert Conformal is better than any
other flat surface at representing the curved surface of the earth in
such a way that a straight line on the chart comes very close to being
a Great...

Engine on Global Flyer by
Brent
They're saying the Global Flyer's jet engine burns 102 pounds of fuel an
hour. If that kind of fuel weighs in at 6 pounds per gallon, that's
about 17 gallons an hour, or roughly double what I burn in the little
Cherokees I fly. Then again, the jet propelled the Flyer about 2 times
as fast with a...

No money to fly. Any Ideas? by
bigcal9
I received my private pilot's license in 2006 while I was in college and have logged only 100 hours. Money has been tight, even with a full-time teaching career. Any ideas as to how I could get back flying again while keeping the costs relatively low? Man, I picked an expensive hobby!

Finally following my dreams by
Rudy26
Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, and hope I'm in the right place to ask these questions.
At 45, I've finally decided to follow my lifelong dream of flying. I guess my first concern is, am I too old. I don't want to be a airline pilot, but cessnas or flying instructor would be nice, so long as I...

Airplane Statistics Abbreviation RCR by
westwinds
I have a book The Vintage and Veteran Aircraft Guide, which has a table of information for all the aircraft in the book. Across the top of the columns we have abbreviations, for example, VMX VCR VS IRC RCR. So I know what the first three abbreviations are but what are IRC and IRC? The values for...

Bose comes through for my Christmas too! (was "Present from Bose!") by
Kyler Laird
I've posted lots of messages about how much my wife and I appreciate
our Bose headsets, followed by several about how my wife's headset
became unusable after an upgrade (and a couple of attempts to fix it).
Now I get to go back to praising Bose.
I just got off the phone with Joe Tesini of Bose...
