Cessna seat rails by Javier Henderson
May I refer you to: http://www.kjsl.com/~javier/sb-1.pdf http://www.kjsl.com/~javier/sb-2.pdf http://www.kjsl.com/~javier/ad-1.pdf http://www.kjsl.com/~javier/ad-2.pdf That deals with the seat rails on Cessna single engine aircraft. It's pretty straightforward, when the holes on the rails are...

Power port by Javier Henderson
Would anyone know (and care to tell me) where to find the power ports found these days on airliners? I'd like to replace the cigarette lighter socket in my Skylane with one of those. Thanks. -jav

Cowl mounts by Javier Henderson
I need to replace the cowl mounts on my '73 182P. I see the choices are Lord or Skybolt parts. The Skybolt parts are a lot more expensive. Are they really that much MoreBetter? Note that the fasteners themselves were replaced last year when I painted the plane. -jav

Lightspeed by Javier Henderson
Am I hallucinating again, or did I read somewhere that you can have Lightspeed install a new cord on their headsets so they will take power from a panel mounted jack, rather than the in-cord battery box? I can't find relevant info on their website... -jav

Aeronca 15AC Sedan by JAX
Amomg other planes, I've been considering the classic Aeronca 15AC Sedan, and was wondering what to look for or to avoid when doing a pre-buy. Also, general comments good and bad about the plane? There aren't many for sale to use as reference, I know NAAA and Vref list them in the mid to upper...

What is a Doyne Apache? by JAX
I've seen some Apaches listed that are 'Doyne conversions' but I can't find what the conversion involved, except maybe 180hp engines. I know about Geronimos, but what exactly makes up a Doyne conversion Apache?

Putting a Plane into Storage by JAX
Is there a procedure or can anyone offer advice on putting a plane into long term storage, so that the airframe is protected and a few years down the road it can be brought back up with a minimum of fuss and lubing? Should the plane be wrapped somehow to keep insects and critters from getting in? ...

STC to Install a Large Baggage Door on a Baron? by JAX
Does an STC exists to convert from a small to a large baggage door on a Baron? Or can this be done under the type certificate if you have the parts?

Cessna 152 by Jay
I'm taking my PPL and trying to locate a decent/depedable 152 to purchase rather than keep renting. Also how many hours on the TTAF time is too many before problems arise. It seems most flight schools are selling around 9k-10k hours? Any 152 sellers out there? Thanks Jay Nashville TN

Using Ethanol in Your Plane by Jay Honeck
There's a California fellow over on the Cherokee 235/236 user's group who is using ethanol-laced mogas in his Cherokee 235, exclusively, and without difficulty. He admits that he *has* ruined his fiberglass tip tanks -- at something like $3500 each -- but this has not deterred him from simply...

Keeping the Hangar Clear of Snow by Jay Honeck
We're facing the snowiest fall ever in Iowa, which has required shoveling pretty much every other day. (Gosh, I can hardly wait for winter!) Our airport plows the ramps and runways well, but they always leave a strip of snow approximately 2 - 3 feet out from the hangar door. This, of...

500 Hour Engine -- What Needs to be Done? by Jay Honeck
So we've reached 500 hours on our Lycoming O-540. All is well, and it continues to run like a champ, using little oil. (Although we still have a minor drip that's driving us nuts...) and pulling like a tractor. So what needs to be looked at when 500 hours is reached? I know there's a Service...

Audio Panel Suggestions by Jay Honeck
I've currently got a Narco CP-136 that works fine, but is cosmetically bad. (Faceplate cracked -- and repaired -- several times...) I'm thinking that we might pick up a new audio panel at OSH '05, but am somewhat confused on what's available. Here's what I want: 1. Audio panel with marker beacon...

JPI Engine Data Analysis Questions by Jay Honeck
I've had the EDM-700 in my panel since 2002. I was able to download the engine data once, way back when the unit was new, but then my old laptop's battery died, and I never could remember to bring it (or its power cord) to the hangar. And, quite frankly, IMHO the saved data was presented in a...
