Sheepskin seat covers save life. by
Kevin
On March 2 1991 a Piper Aztec , N6546Y slammed into the top of Justice
mountain located in North Georgia. Both wings were sheared off by 100
foot high pine trees which took much of the impact force. The fuselage
remained mostly intact from the panel aft. The pilot was trapped in the
cockpit with...

turbo stc? by
The Weiss Family
Has anyone heard of either a turbo or supercharger STC for an IO-360?
In particular, an IO-360-A2B?
It seems that there would be a HUGE market for a turbo upgrade.

Software to write to PCMCIA datacards? by
Charles[_1_]
I'd like to update the database for my Apollo GX55 GPS. $120 for the
raw data is bad enough, but Jeppesen also wants $150 for a writer. The
datacard is a PCMCIA card, so wouldn't it be possible to work with it
with a plain old laptop or a $10 reader from Best Buy? I'm wondering
if someone has...

Cessna buyers in So. Cal. beware ! by
Bill Berle
This is a very lengthy but worth reading post. For the purposes of
possibly saving someone's life or at least preventing serious injury
to their wallets, I am posting below the text of an e-mail I sent
recently to someone who had advertised a Cessna in the San Diego area.
I was looking for a super...

Back to square one on buying an Arrow by
Jack Allison
We got closer this time. We actually had our verbal offer accepted.
That's progress (for this, the 2nd offer we've made on an Arrow).
Things were going well into the weekend. I'd tweaked the prepurchase
agreement from the seller, made plane reservations to fly out and
see/fly/touch/smell the...

Airgizmo and Garmin 496 Install Saga by
Marco Leon
Apparently, installation of the Airgizmo panel dock is quite the touchy
subject up here in the Northeast. I know this has been a subject of a
number of threads but I figured I'd relay my experience so far. Since I
would like it integrated with my Garmin 430 and 340 audio panel (for
the audio out),...

Flying without FAA medical or insurance by
Doodybutch
Last year, an acquaintance of mine turned 85 and stopped flying and sold his
airplane. He just figured that he had done it long enough and he wasn't as
sharp as he used to be. He flew a lot right up until he sold his plane and
he was quite experienced. I suspect for private reasons that he had...

Advice on buying a 152? by
rajek
I'm considering buying a 1978 Cessna 152 that the owner is leasing to a
flying club. I'd continue to lease it to the club and learn to fly in
it. (I have 3 1/2 hours now.) I'd hope that plane to earn enough money
to cover most of its maintenance and insurance, including a new engine
in a few...

Tach Vs. Hobbs Time by
John Roncallo
Hello
Im trying to figure out the Tach on our clubs Archer is screwing us. I
just flew down to the Centenial of Flight FFA from Planville CT. Round
trip with all diversions and ATC rerouts was 975nm. The tach said 12.4
hr. I never checked the Hobbs but I do know that for this plane the...

Lycoming O-360 oil suction screen torque by
[email protected]
Hi,
I'm looking for the torque specification for the oil suction screen (the one
near the bottom of the engine) for a Lycoming O-360. It's the A4A model. I'm
planning on inspecting the suction screen on the next oil change.
Thx!

Navion Parts Availability by

What is the parts availability like for 1940's vintage Navions?
Not bad at all. One guy just bought the contents of the Navion factory.
From what I've heard, the people that bought the paperwork are trying to
make the parts considered bogus, but I don't think they have a...

Piper doors, why the passenger side? by
Nathan Young
First off, this isn't a post to argue the merits of one-door vs.
two-doors, so if you want to do that, start your own thread... :)
Why does Piper put the door of the plane on the passenger side? I
cannot think of one good reason. Would like to hear the group's
opinions.
OTOH, I can think of...

New Cessna panel by
C J Campbell
Yesterday I saw the new Cessna Nav III package for the 2004 182s and 206s.
It is a Garmin 1000 system with battery backup (not certified for part 135
IFR, though). At last Cessna enters the 21st century.

Heater problem fixed! by
Jim Burns
After troubleshooting the Janitrol heater in our Aztec for the past 3 weeks,
we've finally got it fixed. The problem ended up being a combination of a
bad ignitor (spark plug) and a coked fuel nozzle. One problem no doubt
causing the other problem.
After a new spark plug didn't solve our...
