Seat Cover Recommendations by
Jon Kraus
I was looking through the Aircraft Spruce catalog this morning and
stumbled across the Aerosheep Australian Sheepskin Seat Covers for .36
AMU's a pair. I though that this would be a nice addition to 43H's
interior.
Any of you folks go this route? Any other recommendations would be
appreciated....

Replacement altimeter suggestions by
[email protected]
All I can say is, "CRAP!" The altimeter didn't quite pass the IFR
certification. It had some "erratic" movement, required lots of tapping, and then
would bounce back and forth between the acceptable error limits for the certification.
A couple altitudes were over the limit.
The guy doing...

Engine stoppage during idle by

I would start by checking idle at start and at operating temp.
To me, revs should not have been 500

New engine by
Frode Berg
Hi!
We just got the bill for our new engine.....*GASP**
It should be ready and mounted in a few weeks.
It's a 1968' Piper Arrow 180 hp.
Great plane!
Is there anything we should be aware of the first few hours running a newly
installed factory overhauled engine? It's a Lycoming.

Maintenance Training by
Marco Rispoli
Hello. I own a Piper Cherokee in NJ.
I am very happy with my mechanic, his rates, my plane and how (knock on
wood) reliable it is. Overall my maintenance costs are acceptable and
well within my budget.
That being said, I want to learn how to maintain my plane and
eventually I want to work my way...

Hourly cost figures for GA planes by
Kevin Chandler
Greetings everyone,
Our club is looking into expanding its fleet. Most of the fixed costs
associated with an airplane can be obtained from the insurance company and
your favorite A&P. I seem to remember a website that published the
operating costs associated with a great number of GA airplanes. ...

Aircraft Inport Question???? by

Say you found a 1984 172RG that has had a 250HP powerplant put in and some
extra long range fuel tanks but no STC's or any other paperwork for the
aircraft except for engine airframe and prop log's. Aircraft also has some
very odd instruments also that would...

gpsmap antiglare by

Has anyone tried anti-reflective plastic film on the gpsmap or another

it doesn't look like it to me. With the 496 gizmo mounted on the copilot
side I've been able to knock down the glare by putting a kid's black tee...

even stolen that it will not be covered!

Replacement Altimeter brand names? by
[email protected]
In the continuing saga of my altimeter woes, I've discovered that
my current unit has been forced into obsolecense. It's a Macleod unit,
and most overhaul places say they won't touch them. The guy who did the
IFR cert says, "Buy a brand name like United or Kollsman."
Any thoughts on one...

Price of Fuel, etc. by
Mike Spera
I would imagine higher fuel/insurance/operating costs will drive the
trends already in motion. Namely, more shared ownership, less private (1
person) ownership, and either a shift towards owners in a higher income
bracket, or fewer owners overall as the ones struggling with the expense
drop...

Leaning to Hotest Cylinder by
O. Sami Saydjari
My understanding is that one should lean using the "hotest" cylinder as
the reference point for peak EGT. My question is on the interpretation
of "hotest." Does that mean the cylinder that reaches the hotest EGTs
or CHTs? On mine, they are inversely related (the hotest EGTs are on
the coldest...
