Wright bros. - True distance by
Steve Beaver
While pondering the fact that 57 seconds is a long time to go 850 ft (best
and third flight on Dec 17th) it occured to me that it was very windy at the
time.
I believe the bros. reported in the telegram home to dad that it was 21 mph.
850 ft in 57 seconds is 894 ft per minute or about 10 mph. Add...

Wreaks in Florida by
Blueskies
I hate to bring this up and I know it is a real shame that so may airplanes in Florida were wreaked during the
hurricane, but at least they were all on the ground and no one got hurt in them. I want to get some of those parts
flying again. Does anyone know where the insurance companies or who ever...

Wow, those airbusses are big by
[email protected]
OK, I know they aren't homebuilt but this really impressed me:

....
"Christiana Lund, 25, just moved to New York from the L.A. area,
and had gone back to pick up her car, which was with her on the plane.

Would you pay money to see this plane? by
wright1902glider
For some time now, I've been thinking about building a replica of Ben
Epps' 1907 monoplane. For those of you not familiar with Georgia
aviation, this was the first plane built and flown in the state. Ben's
youngest son, Pat Epps, currently owns the big FBO at DeKalb-Peachtree
in Atlanta.

Would you like to write about your hobby for one of the UK's top websites? by
Steve Roche
TownAndAbout.com (www.townandabout.com) receives over 1.5 million page
impressions a month and is ranked in the top 12,000 websites in the
world by Alexa.com. We're launching a new section called HobbyZone on
23 February 2004 and we need writers. At this stage we're not able to
pay but that may...

Would you install lights? by
Lou
I'm getting close to covering my wings. I don't currently fly at night
and could even say that I have no intention on flying at night.
However I had no intention on getting married either. Would anyone
install lights anyway or just limit yourself to flying in the
daylight.

Would a 3 million Candlepower spotlight make a good landing light? by
Legrande Harris
I need to buy a landing light to mount in a fiberglass cowl. I have
been looking at Zenon HID's, halogens, etc., but the most powerful seems
to be a halogen Spotlight.
I am not sure what the current draw is but I would guess about 6 amps?
I will strip the batteries off of it and run straight...

Worthy EAA Construction Books by
Brock
I'm a beginner interested in building an amateur built plane. I've
decided to buy some books from the EAA. Probably all are pretty good,
but I don't want too much repetitive material. I'm trying to decide
between the following:
Tony Bingelis Books: Engines by Tony Bingelis. A treasury...

Worth an encore by
Smitty Two
For those who haven't seen it, and those who have, an enjoyable
aerobatic mini-movie. Good movie directors know that "coverage" is the
key -- get as many cameras, from as many vantage points, as you can on
every scene. That allows for creative and intelligent editing, which
makes for enjoyable...

World's loudest airplane by
Stu Fields
Now that is an achievement. We have been slowly avoiding the Airshow format
that has to have a Harrier, or F16's busting my eardrums or a jet powered
truck drag race.
Way back when EAA was about Experiemental Aviation. Now John Deere and Ford
get higher billing and more up front space than the...

World's Best Tracing Paper! by

Found at the doctor's office.
An enormous roll of the stuff, used to cover the examination table.
About two feet wide and hell for long.
Asked nice, the girl gave me about six feet of the stuff.
