Another ownership question by
Wendy
I've searched through the archives, and there is a lot of useful information
there concerning buying and affording an airplane. My question,
specifically, is this: If I bought a 1977-ish Cessna 172 that is IFR
equipped with a low time engine for, say, around $45,000, can I beat the
rental cost...

and are they generally available used? If yes, what is a typical price

Are there lower cost equivalents with smilar reliability either already

Prop Inspection by
William M
Anyone know what it should cost to get a cs three blade prop
inspected.
Last overhaul in 1989, hours since 5.9 (yes 5.9). Aircraft stored
majority of time in a hangar in a non-corrosive climate. No damage on
props, paint still looks fresh (even on leading edge).
What are the rules on prop...

Flying RV/Camper by
William M
Bought an old Percival Sea Prince (twin engine with approximately
2,000 pounds useful with full fuel.
This might turn into an academic exercise only, but would really like
to save on car rental, hotel and restaurant costs when traveling. I've
already figured out the transportation portion with a...

AUTOPILOT AWRY by
William Snow
I have a piper Arrow and out of the blue...(no pun intended)... the
Autopilot banked hard left (30 deg.) for no apparent reason. It was on Hdg
Mode and the bug was centered.
Each time it was shut off and re-engaged it continued to bank hard left.
I have a long trip to FL planned over the school...

Build an RV of ??? by
William Snow
I am considering building an RV-7A. I currently own an Arrow. I would like
to have an airplane that will cruise at about 200, with a 200 Hp engine in
order to keep the fuel burn numbers within reason. Is the RV the way to go
or am I missing something??
Any words of wisdom would be greatly...

Overly restrictive business flying requirements. by
Wily Wapiti
Hello.
I thought I'd bounce these off the group and see what people
think. These are the UniRegs at the University of Wyoming for flying
your own or rented plane on University business. I feel, as a
low-time private pilot that they are overly restrictive, but I thought
I'd see what the sage...

Ideas for long flight to midwest by
Wings
We have a Cherokee 140 and have flown to OSH twice.
So this year we decided we would try instead to fly from California to
North Carolina (FFA)!
But scheduling problems cut two days out of our schedule, making the east
coast a bit too much of a stretch.
So we're planning on leaving Friday from...

California to the East Coast and back .... in a Cherokee 140! (We really
need to get a faster plane...).
Brief story:

Moline to Iowa City - We made the short hop to Iowa City. I talked with
Jay on the phone, and we were given the keys to the Alexis Park van to

In-ear headsets by
Wings
A year or so ago I bought audio headphones from Sony (Fontopia) that
impressed me greatly with their small size and audio quality.
Furthermore, they block out most external sound.
So I got to thinking about whether something like this would be a good
alternative to heavy and uncomfortable headsets...

C182 - Intermittent Alternator by
WinstonCup
I have a 1978 C182 Q. I recently experienced my alternator turning off and the
high voltage light coming on. I cycled the switch (1/2 master) and got it to
reset every time, however, the interval between episodes varied. I had the
Voltage Regulator and the Alternator replaced (new) and flew a...
