New season, new procedures by Mark IV
“Warm up the engine at 1,000 to 1,200 rpm unless it’s necessary to reduce rpm to keep from exceeding the oil pressure redline. As the oil warms up, the rpm can be increased. Allow plenty of time for the engine to warm up,” Steven W. Ells advised " “The system, although simple, does have one major...

Question about flight computers by Some Other Guy
When you set some distant airport as the destination, do they just use the rhomb line or do they actually calculate and maintain the great circle route akk the way? Sorry if this seems obvious. I'm using a flight sim (xplane), and I'm always suspicious about what the Real Thing does.

landing on pavement by Mark IV
I think the wheels are more for just rolling it into the hanger. You'd tear those floats all to hell landing with a crosswind slip. http://barnstormers.com/listing_images.php?id=498051&ZOOM=90ae5482f6c3b7387e2b33cbcf6f7108 --- Mark IV

Military jet landing at SJC? by Alexander Avtanski
Hello, Today around 10:52am PDT (+/- a couple of minutes) I was in south San Jose when I heard a very loud jet engine noise overhead. When I looked up I saw something that looked like a F-18 on the SJC landing path for 30L or 30R. It may have been a different plane - sorry, I did not have my...

Mode C Veil and Charting Colors by John[_2_]
I just noticed that my newer VFR charts show the Class B Mode C veil 30 nm ring as a magenta line, the same color as used for Class C boundaries. My (still unrecycled) older charts show it as a blue line. When did change and does anyone know why? The blue line made it clearer that it was...
