Cellphone weather inflight by [email protected]
My wife and I made our trip from Wisconsin to Texas on the 4th of July weekend in our Cessna 172, flying back to Wisconsin the following weekend. We tried using the Garmin Pilot MyCast application on our Alltel cellphone in-flight along the way, and while it worked well on the ground during refuel...

Lycoming engine operations by [email protected]
There have been many discussions about the best way to lean, the best way to operate your aircraft engine for good longevity, and more. Lycoming has an EXCELLENT article about engine operations, it's very long but full of good information. I learned a lot about proper leaning, cold weather...

Room available for EAA by [email protected]
We had someone from Kansas City who was going to stay with us during the EAA Airventure, but changed his mind about coming. So now my wife and I are happy to offer our spare bedroom in our house in northern Appleton, Wisconsin, about 35 minutes from EAA in Oshkosh. It isn't much, just a futon...

Whelen lights by [email protected]
I was just curious about ya'lls experience with Whelen lights on your aircraft. The reason I'm asking is that I work at the USA's largest firetruck manufacturer and I deal with Whelen lights daily. My experience with Whelen lights on firetrucks is that while they tend to be technologically...

Stuck panel screws by [email protected]
I was reading a previous thread from May about owner assisted annuals. I noticed a number of comments about drilling out stuck inspection panel screws. Back when I used to work on airplanes as an avionics tech, someone showed me a neat trick for getting stuck screws loose. When you find a screw...

Cessna 150-152 club forum crisis by avqpilot
As a member of the 150-152 Club I'm going through withdrawals now that the plug has been pulled on the Yahoo forum. I may not have posted very much there but I guess I do check in to read what's new every other day or so. I sincerely hope that it's back up and running soon with no loss of data...

NoseDragger Dragger by AXA
Hello, Has anyone ever purchased or use this tow from www.dragger.com? Spruce sells it as well. I need to push an aircraft up a small slope. I'm concerned that this product would try a pull/push UNDER the nose wheel if too much resistance is against the plane. It doesn't take too much to lift...

Piston single research by B A R R Y[_2_]
Folks, I'm starting to research my next plane. Is anyone aware of a book that lists, or better yet, groups by similarities, piston single aircraft for performance and specification research? Any suggestions are welcome. A website would be OK, too, but I'd actually prefer printed material.

Cover thoughts by B A R R Y[_2_]
My current cover (Bruce's Custom) on the Sundowner is wearing out. I currently have the extended version that reaches all the way down to the wing root, but am considering the standard version. The standard version extends only about 1/2 way down the door. The shorter, standard version seems...

Temporarily removing fuel and replacing it into the same aircraft by B A R R Y[_2_]
Does anyone know of a FAR that prohibits removing fuel, avgas in this case, and then putting it back into the same plane? The plane is flown for part 91 service only. Examples: 1.) The plane is 50 pounds overweight for conditions. 10 gallons is siphoned out into a clean, single-purpose,...

Radio Squeal by B. Jensen
I just hard wired my ANR headset into my ship's power so that I no longer have to use a 9v battery as a power source. Now I am getting an intermittent squeal when I transmit. I never had this problem with the 9v power pack. My ANR is a Headsets Inc. conversion to a David Clark headset. Any ideas...
