Marine Radar in a plane? by
Jay Honeck
Yesterday, as we were once again flying blindly toward unknown weather, Mary
and I lamented the fact that we'll never have radar on board our Pathfinder.
Too expensive to contemplate. Ditto with the "live uplink" stuff that's
just coming on the market.
So, I thought, why not adapt a marine radar...

Which Corvair engine by
JSoar
I am thinking about trying a one third Corvair engine in my
ultralight. I found a 1965 140 hp Corvair car and a 1964 turbocharged.
Or maybe the 110 hp would be best. Does anybody know which of the
Corvair engines would be best to start with? Thanks.

AVID FLYER question by
OB1 Kanobe
A friend has an Avid Flyer for sale, I'm interested.
Anyone have any suggestions on things to look for, watch out for, or
suggestions in general? It's a Model C Speedwing with Rotax 532 with
"B" gearbox. Basic instrumentation, no radio, has lights at least on
wingtips. Low time, clean (he...

Lightspeed -- Was:Oshkosh 2003 Redux by
Jack McAdams
Everything was trimmed!! (-;
Counterpoint to the Lightspeed QA 'issue':
I have a 20XL and a 30XL. Both have performed flawlessly from the day
I got them. Maybe I'm just lucky, but that never happens! To be fair,
I don't listen to music in the air so I am unqualified to comment on
the audio...

Alright, All You Dashing, Swaggering Bush Pilots by

What's the most hazardous landing strip you know? I just got a call from
my friend Teddy in craggy, mountainous West Virginny and he said to look on
page 38 of _Plane and Pilot,_ where a picture of Snopes Farm Airport glares
at you. Devilishly. One way in and one way out and you better set...

transponder check? by
Russell Duffy
Greetings,
I'm expecting to make the first flight of an RV-3 later this month, and am
trying to figure out exactly what needs to be done about the transponder.
Does anyone know for sure? Since the plane is day VFR only, I'm pretty sure
I don't need to have the pitot static system tested.
Lots of...

Pitot and static couplings for a TTU-205 by
B2431
I have aquired a TTU-205 and need the pito, static and vacuum couplings and
dust caps. Kollsman wants almost $400 a piece for the couplings and over $100
each for the dustcaps and plugs.
Does anyone have an idea where to buy them cheaper?

Need help with Fluid Mechanics equation by

I am trying to design a "fin" for my water rudders for my experimental

going 0-50mph on a flat surface at right angles to the water flow. It
would be dependent on the speed of the water, the depth of the fin and

Question on Pulsejets/Ramjets??? by
DarylG1532
First, Let me say that I know that these designs are "external" combustion.
That and that they're gas hogs compared to piston driven engines. My question
is: Since the advent of electronic fuel injection, has anyone tried to revamp
these designs to be more effective/effiencient?
If anyone has...
