Stupid helmet question by
Greasy Rider© @invalid.com
I was browsing a newsgroup just now and saw a gentleman flying a P-51
Mustang with what appears to be just a common ball cap. I got to
wondering if he is that secure in his abilities and crash worthiness
of the air frame to simply wear a ball cap?
As a motorcyclist I feel very strange if I'm not...

making turns for 15 knots by
mah
In reading some of the novels and other books, you hear the sonar
operators saying "Making turns". How did you get a blade count
converted to knots?
Thanks

Dropping droptanks by
Max Richter
Hallo,
i wonder how common is it, to really drop your droptanks in an combat
situation.
And if you do it, will somebody be upset that you lost these "valuable
peaces of equipment"?
I ask this because i was in the early eighties in the 42nd Materialdepot
of the German airforce and had to store...

Ejection -v- Forced Landing by
Cockpit Colin
I've read about the experiences of a few pilots who have had to eject - by
all accounts it's an extremely violent process which none would care to
repeat. Obviously it's done as a last alternative when the potential
benefits out weigh the considerable risks.
In the GA world it's not an option that...

?? Marine boot camp question ?? by
vincent p. norris
My son-in-law, who was in the Navy about 30 years ago, mentioned at
dinner today that the guy who graduated #1in his platoon at Marine
boot camp was given a set of blues, free.
I think that's an urban legend. It certainly wasn't the case when I
went through Parris Island in 1946.
Was it done at...

Fuel leakage during in-flight refueling by
mark johnston
When refueling using the probe and drogue system, is it commonplace to have
fuel leakage from the drogue? At my day job, we have a foreign customer
asking about the resistance of an engine to fuel ingestion during refueling.
Apparently it is something of a problem for them, but they have not...
