Just back from Milwaukee Air Show by
Jay Honeck
Mary and I (and kids) just returned from the Milwaukee Air Show, where
we spent a couple of fun days with Jim & Tami Burns (and kids).
We had a GREAT time. It was a very good show, although the heat and
humidity were absolutely brutal. With temperatures approaching 100
degrees, and high dew...

getting into the airplane business by
Mark
I'd appreciate any intelligent input into this idea I've
had presented to me.
Lately several flight schools have mentioned to me
they'd be interested in leasing a light-sport plane
from me if I purchased one. One person told me
about someone who did this with a new Cessna 172,
and it was paid off...

2005 RAH Flyin at Pinckneyville goof correction by
David Wenk
Can somebody please enlighten me as to how and why Pinckneyville came to be
the home of the annual RAH Flyin? We're trying to do a profile on PJY and
the fly-in in particular, for Flyguides and AOPA's Postcards online. I
checked the FAQs but couldn't find what I was looking for. Anybody out...

Prior to getting my RV-6A I had perhaps 250 hours over 20 plus
years. My cross country experience was limited. I did not like to talk

Celebrity Planes Sort of OT by
BucFan
This is just a curiosity question. I was reading an article about Angelina
Jolie, the fact that she was a pilot was a pretty big part of the article,
they also pointed out that she owns her own plane ( Cirrus SR22 ).
They had a picture of her flying the plane, and in the picture you could see...

Oregon Trail GPS route? by
tom pettit
Hi All,
I'd like to follow the Oregon Trail by air. A gps would make the route
finding very easy. I've googled my brains out, but haven't found a gps data
base to download of the trail.
Anyone know where to find such a file?

Pirep: Trip to Dayton Wright Patterson Museum by
Jim Burns
Wow, amazing, huge, inspiring, impressive, and a must see for any aviation
enthusiast.
The list of planes on display is unreal. F22 Raptor, B1, B2, B52, B36, huge
array of the F100 series fighters, B29, B17.... the WWII display is great,
not only does it cover the US fighters but it includes many...

PPL/CPL test questions by
John D. Abrahms
Hi all!
I've been reading here for a long time, but now I have a question for
myself that I want to ask.
I'm from Germany. Last year I have been in the US to begin working on
my PPL. My goal is to get PPL then CPL. I have flown a lot of hours
(over 70hrs), but since I had to return earlier than...

question charity flight by

Hey, I'm you basic 200hr PPL-ASEL and a friend
of mine has asked me to donate a sightseeing
flight to her charity's auction.
Four questions:
First, since I'm not being reimbursed for the
flight, I don't even think this fall under

a stranger where, no...

Rare Bird found at Katama [1b2] Martha's Vineyard Island, Mass. by
Doug
I see two angles coming on this one.... Damn environmentalists....
1. Non-native species invades local eco-system, creates trouble for local
wildlife.
2. Rare species found now requires protection, close the airfield and 1000
acres of former public land now bird sanctuary.

Bose X headset service by
Dan Luke
When I brought the airplane home after Katrina, I stepped on the
headset cord while deplaning, pulling the connector out of the battery
box. Sheer clumsiness.
I called Bose on Sept. 1, explained what happened, got a return # and
sent the headset in that day.
It arrived back at my home today,...

Air France Flt 358 vs. thunderstorms by
[email protected]
I've read several reports online re the Air France crash at Toronto
that there were thunderstorms in the vicinity (one account said "right
over the airport") If so I'm curious why the captain didn't divert or
hold away from the storm until it passed (fuel status?). If there was a
storm nearby that...

Looking for older runway light fixtures by
Ron Lee[_2_]
We have some older runway threshold lights (L861 SE type) with
individual red and green lenses that are smooth as opposed to the ones
today that have some shape to them. These lenses are inside the clear
globe. They are about 17 years old and I can't find replacements.
Anyone know of a source...
