When to start building the B3? by
Henry J. Cobb
There will be a B3 manned heavy bomber.
The mission is not going away.
The big question is will the United States be able to build a bomber
that is a big enough improvement on the B2 to justify the development
before we run out of heavy bombers?
I think the answer is yes.

Not everybody wants to fight by
Chris Mark
Been exchanging memoirs with some vets and offer this extract, fwiw:
"One of the pilots that was with me in cadet and P-40 training was transferred
to a non-flying assignment. He had been with the squadron since September 1943
and had not flown one combat mission. He just didn’t want to fly the...

Iroquois 73-21763 by
Darryl Gibbs
Hi everyone.
The Dandenong RSL has acquired an Iroquois from the USA which has now
arrived in Australia and which will soon be mounted on a display pole.
It is 73-21763, construction number 13451.
Can anyone help out with any history of this aircraft or even photographs of
it when in service?

Eurofighter Costs by
John Cook
Hi all
I came across a news item on
http://www.airpower.at/greymatter/archives/00000049.htm
It has a breakdown of the cost to the Austrian government for 18
Eurofighter typhoon, so we can get an accurate price of an export jet.
I have translated the main part from German as:-

V-1 "aces" by
Cub Driver
For all the talk about Meteors shooting down V-1s, I was amused to see
that there was no Meteor V-1 "ace". (One pilot did manage to account
for four.)
Most of the V-1 aces flew Griffon-engined Spitfire XIIs, Spitfire
XIVs, and Tempest Vs. The other successful aircraft were Mosquitoes
(at night)...

USA Defence Budget Realities by
Stop SPAM!
To correct some gross misstatements of fact circulating in these
newsgroups, some facts:
The USA Defence budget for FY2004 is 3.4% of the USA GDP, one of the
smallest in recent history. Since the end of WW II the USA Defence
budget has averaged about 6% (ignoring the Korean war spikes of
10%-14%)....

RFI: Soviet vs. US/Allied air combat... by
David
I have seen a listing many years ago of actual air-to-air combat
between Soviet pilots and US/Allied pilots. This will need to have
historical citations and footnotes, since this is to settle a very
serious bet, covering a round of drinks. I am looking for:
Place
Date
Aircraft
Outcome
BTW, I was...
