OTA -- a new twist to "call me when you land" by Roy Smith
I heard a bizarre interaction this evening (about 8:00, on 126.4, near White Plains, NY). The conversation went something like this: NY Approach: Proceed direct Carmel. Pilot: Carmel isn't on our route. NY: It's on the SID. I assigned you the SID. Pilot: No, Carmel's not on the SID.

VFR charts for Greece / Crete ? by g n p
Here in Greece we use the sectionals and the Bottlangs. Any planning prog. will show you lo/ hi routes, the only thing you will be missing is the rather complex Athens TMA routes and altitudes. _______________ G. Paleologopoulos "Peter" wrote in message

Flight Levels??? by Chuck Dreier
I just returned on a flight from San Juan to Orlando and our flight level was 300, including a portion over the mainland. Since then I've been listening to my aircraft radio and routinely hear flights assigned FL320, 340, etc.. It was always 2000 feet separation with levels 290, 310, 330, 350,...

flying for a charity by Kyler Laird
I've tried to follow the "charitable airlift" discussions here over the years and it usually makes my head hurt. I was just contacted with a request to transport and I could really use some Usenet-level advice. (Yeah, I've got AOPA legal services but I get better info here.) There's a Rottweiler...

Somehow the FAA forgot to send me the last batch of sectional DVDs and by the time I finally called about it they didn't have any remaining. I was told to wait for the next batch. It's here. This batch doesn't become effective until December 25, 2003, but because the previous batch has expired,...

Gear problem in an Aztec PA23-250 by Robert Borucki
I was flying around in a '64 Aztec yesterday, and did some touch and goes, and on one downwind, dropped the gear, and did not get a right main gear down indicator light. I tried switching lightbulbs, etc. I had full hydraulics, as the flaps worked fine. I tried cycling the gear a few...

Hello everybody, I'm a father of three from Redwood City, CA. I don't fly by myself but I'm interested in flying overall. We actually live just now quite close to San Carlos Airport, where they had the Vertical Challenge show just week ago. We're a family from Northern Europe. This may be crazy...
